Are we really that bad off at TE?

Why is it that a rookie QB on the roster gets every excuse from coaching to system, from being a rookie to not being taught from the sidelines, but other positions are not given the same benefit of the doubt?

Who knows about the Panther TEs? They've never been used like TEs throughout the rest of the league, they've never had the opportunity to fully succeed or fail.

The Panthers during the Fox era have always had major defensive issues with regard to covering TEs. And, on the opposite side of the ball, the Panthers have always had major offensive issues because they under-utilize the TE. I think both go hand-in-hand and it reflects the inadequacy of the prior staff. The coaching staff clearly couldn't or didn't know how to use a TE.

I don't think we're bad off per se, it's just that we haven't been utilizing the TE position to open up the middle of the field.

I like King, but I think we need to move on. Rosario and Barnidge are both faster and have better hands. Take Lance Kendricks or Kyle Rudolph!

Dont understand why everyones so down on kingy. hes a better blocker and has decent hands adn hes only 27. rosario's too one deminsional in that he cant block and too slow to be a big time reciever threat. barnidge has good upside, makes some nice catches and is a good ST contributor. let rosario walk and find someone to compete in camp. owens is a free agent.

Rosario is like Peppers.

Watch him. He doesn't give much of an effort when he knows the ball isn't coming his way. I've seen him, after an intercepton, walk away from the play when he could have made the tackle. He half-steps routes or fails to get in position for screens. The guy is a total d-bag.

But when he does play, he is good. Hopefully Rivera can fix his attitude. And you guys need to stop giving him a pass for the game against the Chargers.

King is pretty sure-handed when he's thrown to -- the problem is he gets virtually no yards after the catch. This problem is further compounded by the fact that he's usually thrown to just short of the first down marker.

King is probably the cloest thing currently on roster to that guy that can do both (block and catch). Unfortunately he's only moderately good to slightly above average at both. No opposing DC is going to lose sleep worrying about how to stop Jeff King.

On most teams with a true dual-threat TE, King would be the number two. I won't be surprised if that's what he becomes here.
