Whether the FO gets McDermott & Singletary, or neither in the end, it goes to show that they are making moves to make this team a real contender :)

Did anyone really think that they weren't going to make moves to right the ship?

We didn't know the route they'd take but I think we all knew change was coming. I personally think starting with building a solid coaching staff then addressing player personnel through the lens of the new staff is the best way they could have done it.

The Panthers haven't made any announcements yet, but they're working furiously behind the scenes, in hopes of having their staff complete this week.

This makes me think that we have a good portion of our staff in place...they may wait to announce all of them at once next week when they are finished.

It doesn't matter who we bring in as DC, Rivera already said that defense would be his thing to look over. It is the OC and that side of the ball we need to be thinking about.

yes, it very much does matter.. Rivera isn't going to be the playcaller...

I don't know why people have this idea that if someone over looks one side of the ball that it reduces the importance of the coordinator..

the coordinator would not be as important if Rivera was the playcaller as well...

More people than I can count have tried to say that on this board....however ridiculous the notion is.

amen.. Richardson is going to do what it takes to win... it's ridiculous to think otherwise based on his history and what he said at the press conference.

csnphilly's reporting that mcdermott hasn't interviewed with anybody yet, and he only has a scheduled interview with us..

Sean McDermott, fired as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator, will interview this week with close friend and long-time colleague Ron Rivera for a job on Rivera’s Panthers staff, according to a high-placed NFL source.

Fox, now head coach of the Broncos, is also believed to be interested in McDermott, although the source said no interview has been scheduled.

LaCanfora's been wrong before. Hope he is again.

as far as sources go, it's from denver, and they haven't had anything defensively to be proud of lately, so somebody might be jumping the gun at this point, it's very early in his firing anyway so why would he want to negotiate with the first place he finds

the national football media is going with a flashier headline of course, this also coincides with Kurb's theory that the media hates us
