I think the DC will be more of a figure head with Rivera calling most of the plays. I could see the DC on our team being more of a manager of the def. I could see Sean coming here to continue to learn under Rivera while helping the coach to manage details that RR might not have time for with his added duties.

With all these quality names being talked about on def I can't wait to see who they will bring in on offense. I hope our future OC is still coaching a playoff team.

I would think that a defensive line-up of Rivera being HC/DC and handling play-calling, Mcdermott handling the LB's and Meeks handling the secondary would be a poo-ton of instant noteriety to this team defensively. It would be the type of defensive system that FA's would be clamoring to play in. Depending upon who he gets for the DL it could be an all-star cast for the D.

All of this bodes well for getting a top flight OC too.

I've liked this guy for a bit and he's a protege under Johnson, even better. I think Philly is stupid for letting him go. He did well with what he had honestly. I hope we seriously take a look at him.

but even if we make him the DC Ron's probably going to call the plays anyway so I don't know why it would be a problem

DC's are also heavily involved in the game planning. he could be good for that even if Rivera calls the signals.

McDermott is a god-send in so many ways. I was getting sick to my stomach thinking about Dave Wannstedt as our DC.

I remember when Jim Johnson passed there were some reports that Andy Ried didn't like McDermott and wanted to go after another coach to replace Johnson but emotions kind of forced his hand. This was all pretty much speculation and nothing ever confirmed but still I think could have played a role in McDermott being let go. McDermott wasn't a Ried yes man and Juron is. Simple as that sometimes.

I think Rivera and McDermott would be a great partnership. Doubt it happens now that I'm all on board.
