Everybody on the Eagle forum seem to be estatic about it. Havent seen the eagles play alot, but Im not so sure it would be a good hire atleast for DC.

with meeks coaching the secondary (i'm not fond of his tampa 2 zone DC approach but in the secondary he's good) and mcdermott coaching the linebackers the back seven will never look as good as it will this year

Ummm, Rivera ran the Tampa 2 zone defense in Chicago too and more then likely that will be what he will run here in Carolina. Yes he attacks and uses more blitz's but it's still a Tampa 2 zone defense.

I've only watched a few Eagles games recently, but I know they've been one of the most consistent franchises in the past decade or so...at least more consistent than us. If he's as great a defensive mind as others have said and he has a good history/relationship with Rivera I'm not opposed to bringing him in especially since Rivera is going to have a tight reign on the defense for at least the next year or so.

It makes no sense. He did the best a DC could with what they gave him. Not his fault they never payed a Slot or #2 CB. Samuels cant do it all. And with 1 reasonable Lb. and a pretty good line he did a fine job. Way to disrespect the only thing Jim Johnson left in the game of football.

Rivera is going to control the Defense. Him and McDermott worked together for 5 years. Rivera was the best 4-3 DC in the league. McDermott was considered one of the best recently. McDermott would be the perfect DC/Assistant DC for us.

mcdermott was in bad postion having to replace a legend like johnson. he understands alot of the concepts rivera wants to implement so bring him on IMO
