My Plan to Win a Championship Next Year

This is what it's going to take to win a championship next season. Now I know what your thinking, we don't even have a QB much less a team ready to win a superbowl next year. Well, not quite. You see we still have most of the core players that went 12-4 in 2008, and most of them still have years of football in them God willing. Ron Rivera is known for having a top defense, and next year we need to be number one in that area. This is my plan for winning a championship next season..........

Firstly, assuming the new CBA is done shortly (which I doubt it will be), we need to court Nnamdi Asomugha. Our secondary is already supported by a strong bunch of guys like Chris Gamble, Charles Godfrey, and Sherrod Martin. They are probowl talent. Adding in Aso would make us have the best secondary in the league. Trust me, we are going to need the best secondary in the league when we face Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Josh Freeman every year two times a piece. Also, whether it is Munnerlyn or Marshall, having a great nickel would only make this deal even sweeter. (I hate to see Marshall go, but he is looking for starter money. He was the best nickel corner Carolina ever had. Having Aso and Gamble on the outside, and him covering the slot would be overwhelming)

Next up would be to draft Nick Fairley. That would solidify our d-line. With Charles Johnson, and hopefully Greg Hardy (if not, Brayton is a dependable guy), we would have three pass rushing and run-stopping young guys ready to throw down. To finish up the defense, we would bring back James Anderson and Thomas Davis to once again tag up with our leader Jon Beason (our beacon). With Fairley's big body to take on double teams from the inside, our linebackers will run free all day, hitting backs from every side possible. So this is how the defense will stack up.

DE Greg Hardy, Everette Brown

DT Nick Fairley, Derek Landri

DT Brandon Mebane (possilbe free agent), Nick Hayden

DE Charles Johnson, Tyler Brayton, Jake Bequette (draftee) :msnwink:

OLB James Anderson, back up?

MLB Jon Beason, Dan Connor

OLB Thomas Davis, back up?

CB Nnamdi Asomugha, CJ Wilson

FS Sherrod Martin, back up?

SS Charles Godfrey, Marcus Hudson

CB Chris Gamble, Capt. Munnerlyn

Finally, to finish off the plan, we need a game manager QB. A guy who will not turn the ball over, and at the same time can get the ball to Steve Smith. We have one of the best running back groups in the NFL. With a healthy o-line and good offensive playcalling, we will be good enough on offense to win a championship. (Again, assuming the CBA is done, the biggest offensive aquisition for us would be Logan Mankins. He would officially replace Andrew Vincent at RG.)

As for QB, bring Matt Moore back and let him learn the new offensive system. Matt Hasslebeck would be the biggest name of the QB market for free agency (assuming Peyton and Vick don't fall through), yet the guy is playing on his last legs. Moore was our best QB this past season, and he is still young enough to lead this wild team here. Also, sign Marc Bulger, and let him and Clausen battle it out for the back position. Bulger will help our group of QBs, as he had experience on explosive offenses.

Sounds like a great plan, but I dont think we will Asomugha. Dont get me wrong I think it would be fantastic to have him land here, but I just cant see it going through. I feel that the first thing we should do (before signing other FA's) is worrying about our own FA's; i.e, Dwill and Kalil and so forth. To me, thats the biggest priority. Once thats settled then move onto FA's in the market like a vet QB, and a solid corner.

The thing that scares me the most about Aso is im afraid he would want too much money. Granted, I feel he deserves alot because he is a top 5 CB, but with money spent on him we couldnt resign our core players and resign need positions. Yes, having a great CB like him would help, but for right now Gamble and Capt. will suffice unless we have the extra money to grab Aso. This is the first time in a long time where we have had an offseason and I dont know what the heck will happen. Very exciting...right?

Nnamdi will be offered way more money to stay in Oakland than he would in Carolina, and the Raiders are surprisingly better off roster-wise than we are. If he's leaving Oakland for good for a championship, why would he pick Carolina when he could just as easily sign for a team that went to the playoffs this year?

Nice ideas though.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
