I have seen some compare Clausen to Aikman...

Perspective.

9 TDs? Sure, but he had 4 in one game. Maybe that was his one start more than the Jimmay? That would make it 5-3 in Aikman's favor. That's a lot closer, pathetic for both. If you also consider that Aikman got the starter reps all through camp and preseason whil the Jimmay didn't get them until week 3, it probably was fairly even. both absolutely sucked butt.

I haven't seen anything to make me think that Clausen's name will ever mentioned in Canton unless as a punchline, but I also believe it's far to early to toss him on the scrap heap. We have enough other issues to keep us from winning a superbowl in the next year so, let him keep a roster spot and see how he grows. He might be an Aikman, or he might be a Carr, or he could be a Couch.

Jimmy throwing 4 TD's in next game? Really? What High School would we be playing for that to happen?

Since Jake Delhomme played so well after his horrendous season lets give him another shot to eh?

at least Jake goes down swinging. Clausen is just a punching bag who occassionally throws a weak jab.

I don't care about wins or losses. Carolina could have gone 0-16 and Clausen could have given us some signs of good play and I could have handled that. He didn't.

In Aikman's second game he threw for 241 yards, something Clausen couldn't do in his 10th start. Stats can be twisted to make Aikman appear "closer" to how bad Clausen played or they can be used to show how different they were. Either way, comparing them is pretty pointless.

It may have been his second start but it was after many weeks of work with the starters through OTAs, training camp, preseason, and week 1. Clausen didn't get any of that since Moore was the starter. Comparing and twisting stats can be pretty pointless but, if eliminated, message boards would be pretty boring;).

I think Clausen ended the season with plenty of first team practice and never broke 200 yards.

Yeah Yeah i know. All Fox's fault.

but but but.....he was in a no win situation. Sure the D was pretty good and ST was decent......and yes, the run game became a top unit the 2nd half of the season, and in addition to having a Pro Bowl WR and some actual speed at the #2 slot for the first in a couple years......but the kid was in the worse scenario imaginable.

By the end of the season Clausen had many weeks of work with the starters as well :)

And they shouldn't be eliminated. It should just be illegal to use them to compare a rookie to a NFL great when the stats aren't close :D

Let's see, he got 2 weeks then was pulled at the bye and Moore put back in, then Moore got a few weeks and got hurt then the Jimmay was put back in until he also was hurt, then he came back to complete the season. I can see how everybody is justified to expect Peyton Manning type play.

My point was that the stats were not as far apart as some are claiming. Aikman also had more experience around him.

Not Peyton Manning type play. But again, he didn't play like Aikman. Stop comparing the two.

depends how you look at it the stats.

Aikman had some high and lows that ultiamtely gave him comparable stats.....Clausen was consistantly showed nothing. Aikman had the 4 TD game, he had the game where he threw for almost 400 yards, he had a couple additional games where he threw for over 200 yards. The end result...yeah, you can see some comparable numbers.

There is reason Aikman remained the starter......it is in the stats. The games where he showed something.
