I have seen some compare Clausen to Aikman...

Is it typical for a QB to flat out suck and turn it into a goof career? No it's extremely rare. All you did was find a counter example. Really you are disproving your own point.

Are there any other QBs that sucked this bad and turned it around? If not then we have one example out of thousands.

Also did Aikman have the mechanical issues that Clausen has?

Steve Young in Tampa. He was officially labeled BUST. When Bill Walsh offered a 2 for a QB who had <55% completion , 11 touchdowns, and 21 ints in 19 games, TB jumped.

I've already looked into Peyton's rookie season and it was miles and miles better than Clausen's in almost every way.

Warner's first season was 1999 (he threw 11 passes in 1998) and he threw 41 TDS

I'm guessing none of those guys had that bad of a rookie year but I don't care to go digging into stats right now

It took Warner several years to make an NFL roster. That was the point I was making. He was worse than Clausen. Warner couldn't even make the practice squad.

Manning threw more interceptions than Clausen took snaps (or so it seems)

Gannon's best season came when he was 37 (before he Jake Delhomme'd in the Super Bowl) Before then, he could be called a poor man's Chris Chandler. That isn't exactly high praise.

I don't remember Beurlein's stats, but nobody knew he had a 4400 yard, 36 TD season in him.

Kitna may have some good stats; not sure. But I know he only recently developed that fire to win. I never saw him play like recent times early in his career.

Morrall and Krieg were supposed to be career backups. One led his team to a perfect 17-0 record and the Super Bowl. The other is in the HOF.

It is funny when Luck went back to school, Clausen's fan base went up 7800 percent.

Maybe so. When you get replaced after your rookie year, I think that qualifies you as a bust.

But now that our savior isn't on the horizon, we should concentrate on getting his full potential out of him.

Compare his first season at Notre Dame to his second and third. I hate the guy, but I do have some confidence in him.

You think when we finally dump Clausen the 49ers are going to grab him up?

Young got a few years behind Montana then went on to his own HOF career. ome folks see a QB come straight in to success and instantly expect that to be the norm. It's not. Few QBs get instant success in the NFL. Throwing them away early is a major mistake.

Nobody expected Clausen to go to the playoffs. We expected "the most NFL rerady QB in the draft" to show anything. He didn't.

He stunk.

And we aren't throwing him away.

But i would sell your Clausen Jersey today if you can get any money for it

There are 2 arguments here.

1) Do we bring Clausen back? Absolutely, he is under contract and there isn't much to lose. Maybe we end up with two many QBs and he gets cut buts it doubtful.

2) is he an NFL QB? You can delude yourself into thinking Fox ruined him or that he is just like Peyton manning. I would put the odds at around 10% that he ends up with any sort of decent career.

That's not the agrument in general when taking about Jimmy. The two camps are as I see:

1) Jimmy is a bust, PERIOD...end of story.

2) Jimmy needs more time, beyond a rookie season, to determine whether he can or can not be a capable starter in this League.

That's not an answer to his question.

Here ya go

FOX analyst Terry Bradshaw calls Clausen “just another guy” and points to Clausen’s mechanics as another reason why the Panthers were able to draft him midway through the second round.

“I don’t like his motion,” Bradshaw said recently. “I just thought he was way too slow with his delivery, way too much shoulder action. Physically, in the way he threw a football, I just didn’t like him.”
