I have seen some compare Clausen to Aikman...

I'm sure Aikman had everything perfect to suceed.

Aikman didn't have it better......it just makes it sound better to say that.

Irvin was a 2nd year player. His main RB was Paul Palmer. If you break it down, Clausen probably had the better cast.

depends how you look at it the stats.

Aikman had some high and lows that ultiamtely gave him comparable stats.....Clausen was consistantly showed nothing. Aikman had the 4 TD game, he had the game where he threw for almost 400 yards, he had a couple additional games where he threw for over 200 yards. The end result...yeah, you can see some comparable numbers.

There is reason Aikman remained the starter......it is in the stats. The games where he showed something.

OR he remained the starter because the team had spent a high pick and paid the money so that it had no choice but to give him another shot. Steve Walsh, their other rookie QB led the team to the win that year, had a better int and sack %, and thus a better rating, also had 2 near 300 yard gmes out of his 5 starts.

Someone please kill this thread...

In my 45+ years of watching football, which includes Aikman's entire career, putting Aikman and Clausen in the same sentence is ludicrous, to say the least, even limiting it to rookie years.

Who put the gun to your head making you come into this thread? I'm looking for 25 + pages. We'll start a comparison to Favre next. Maybe go back to Bradshaw or Kosar.

If he wasn't under a 4 year contract I think scrap him would be on the table depending on what moves we make in the offseason

Maybe, but do we know what limits were placed on him? Everybody seems POed that he would dump off so much. Maybe Fox/Davidson didn't trust the rookie so directed him to 1 read, not there, dump short. That sounds like the conservative type of thing they would do.

Dallas just won a game he happened to start. 33% pass comp, 142 yards.

They went w/ Aikman b/c he looked to be the better QB going forward. Walsh's glimpses of good play weren't as good as Aikman's.

after watching the Fox's face as the camera zoomed in on him after a standard Clausen "safe" play......I am pretty sure that isn't the case.
