Even the college guys are essentially full-time, year-round athletes.

You're not going to get another Vince Papale these days.

It did, but they left a few things out (and threw a few things in).

Papale never played college football, but he did run track.

After college, he played semi-pro football. It was actually his semi-pro career that got him the Eagles audition. The "open tryouts" in the movie never happened.

And as you could likely tell from the closing clips, his big TD wasn't nearly as dramatic as it was portrayed to be.

Papale was still a special player and a great story, but much like Adrian Cronauer, parts of his movie biography boro little resemblance to reality.
