no news yet on assistant coaches?

Some ideas:

a-The Panthers are in an assistant coach bidding war to get the coaches they want (There are 20 new defensive coordinators this year and alot of assistants changing teams elsewhere also)

b-They are waiting on the Colts to release some assistants under Meeks while the Colts are waiting for the Panthers to hire coaches before releasing them

c-They are spending their time with attorneys fighting prostitution allegations

d-They have no clue what they are doing

or e) there is a problem here and it is not an attractive job...thus we will get the leftovers.

They have one confirmed interview: Mike Haluchak for LB coach.

As to the rest, Gantt has said it's taking a lot longer than the Panthers hoped. No specific reason why has yet come out, so it's all speculative at this point.

Wasn't Haluchak one of your suggestions or am I thinking of someone else?

yeah, nothing new. I can talk ad-nauseum about this subject but there's literally nothing else to say on the guys I want.

As I'm blogging now, the Raiders finally hired Cable, which might force Haluchak's hand one way or another. Same for Krumrie, who's still technically under contract in KC but they're about to hire their new coach.

Maybe the Panthers had to wait untill after the SB so they could go after some Steeler assistants or even Cards assistants. Or could it be they are not having any luck because some of the ex panthers assistants have put the word out that Carolina is not the place to go?

it's not likely Cards/Steelers assistants. Traditionally, if staffers are allowed to leave they do so for promotions (and we really don't have anything that's a step up given we have position coach openings only) or to go with a newly-hired Todd Haley, for instance.

    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
    • There is zero reason to sit him if he is ready to go.  Putting him on a shelf and attempting to protect does him no favors.
    • Stroud us nit the first QB thus franchise has missed on. He also won't be the last.
