The Broncos' search committee — Ellis, Elway, team owner Pat Bowlen and general manager Brian Xanders — started with a broad list of candidates before choosing eight to be interviewed.

Three declined the offer — Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, who took the 49ers' head coaching job; Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey; and Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams — while five, including Broncos interim head coach Eric Studesville, were interviewed.

Interesting that Williams and Mularkey were not interested in the Denver job.

Also:

"It was beneficial to have a psychologist/headhunter who had done this kind of search and interview process before, specifically (in) professional sports.

"He was really able to guide all of us, and extract a lot of good information about a candidate's makeup and personal character."

And.....

Fox's responses were partly cloudy — it's clear he didn't want to reveal too much today. But he expressed confidence and singled that he clearly believes he's the man who can pull the Broncos out of the NFL cellar and back to the penthouse. Why else would he have signed a four-year deal for between $3 million and $3.5 million a season after making $6 million as coach of the Carolina Panthers in 2010?

Did they not realize no on else was interested? And, get used to those "cloudy" responses. lol Guess the press has not done their homework
