Time to face the facts, guys

Will be getting a franchise quarterback this year? Not likely one that we recognize immediately. Anyone we draft will need a year or two. Any free agent we pickup if they are our next Delhomme will need a year or two to demonstrate the consistency to be called a franchise guy. So I would agree that we aren't going to know if we have a franchise guy this year. But that doesn't mean they aren't our there or even here already, it just means it won't be something that everyone recognizes right away.

We are not getting a franchise quarterback this year.

There are none available in the draft, in free agency, or via realistic trade. None :nonod:

Next year? Maybe. This year? No. The best thing we can do this year is find a reasonable stopgap. For me, that's Volek via free agency. I have no interest in reaching in the draft, taking a shot at a guy we hope might be a franchise guy (already did that last year) or giving up the kind of significant value it'd take to trade for a guy that could fit that role.

This is one problem for which there just isn't any solution available this season, so we are just going to have to be patient.

(yes, I know ahat I'm asking) :sosp:

In the first round? No. But I still feel there is a guy in this draft that if developed, could be the franchise QB. Andy 'I thought you would be bigger' Dalton.

I don't know how the hell we went from talking about our QB for 2011 to the team relocating. Newsflash BoA does not OWN the team. Sure they have naming rights and are a huge investor. But as I said once before, (and I can not reveal my sources,) The Carolina Panthers are staying in Charlotte for a long, long time. This team is owned by the Richardsons but belongs to the Carolinas. And inside of myself it's one of the few things I'm sure about.

Bottom line here guys: You don't add another young QB to the mix we already have unless you have good reason to believe he can be a franchise QB. That's a guy like Matt Ryan or Andrew Luck. No one currently left in the draft pool fits that mold.

And in reality, you only look for guys like that in the first round. That's where you find franchise guys 99 times out of 100 (Tom Brady is a fluke). Anybody you draft beyond round one is realistically just another young prospect.

We already have two of those. We don't need another :nonod:

who said relocate?

when the team is being shopped that does not mean relocation but it does mean that there could be extenuating circumstances on how the FO proceeds with what is currently perceived as an asset (the first overall pick) Peoples we do not even know about could have a say and without knowing them and their backgrounds it is that much harder to make an educated guess as to how that pick will go down.

Noone here thinks that Mayflower trucks are secretly staging a midnight extraction of the Panthers.
