Pat Yasinskas on Cam Newton: Go get him.

My problem with evaluating players in the NC game is how long they are off before hitting the field again. I think this year it was ~45 days. I really wish they'd either extend the regular season into mid Dec or push up the NC game to the first week in Jan and dump half the crap bowls. That said, neither QB looked good in that game.

It was the only way that everyone had a chance to see him play instead of just looking at highlight tapes.

If I knew someone would read then go watch any other of his games I'd do the same for all of them but it's not going to happen.

Even in the Bama game highlights for the last drive, he shows lazy feet and a one read approach.

Yea, I realize that, I'm just saying there needs to be less space between the last game of the regular season and the NC game so we don't have to watch them shake off the rust for half a game. And we'd get to see a more real representation of what the players can do in what will be some of their last displays before entering the draft.

Agree the LONG layoff does suck, BUT if Newton was so great and is worth the top pick he has a great game, Vince Young had time off till the game and he came out and looked great. Newton had some bad throws and helped put Oregon back in the game with a costly fumble. i like Newton between picks 7-later, but NOT at number one overall.

I can guarantee you he's going in the 1st round

Fall back and pick him??????

Next 3 picks?

Do they need to look at the future of the QB position? YES

It would be a SHOCK or just destiny if we dropped back and still got him

Or maybe thats just another way of saying I dont want him without saying it. Sad we got the number 1 pick this year, damn shame

I did a breakdown of the first 10 drives of the NC game. I did a breakdown of his play and what I saw, including lousy footwork and no accuracy.

Please rewatch the whole game, take my post and make a play by play rebuttle or do as you promised and stop talking about Cameron Newton.

Edit:

Here's a link...I'll be waiting

First off, don't try to convict me of not responding to your thread on this play by play, because I simply didn't see it before (I hadn't been on the Huddle for a few days during the snow storm here in Charlotte, in fact, today is really the first chance I've had to visit).

Secondly, I'd have to sit down and re-watch the game to properly rebuttal you. Something I'm not really inclined to do, as I don't really have 3 hours to re-hash a game that I've already watched. And even if I DO rebuttal you to the full extent, there's probably a REALLY good chance you won't accept it, and we will have a continued circular debate.

Lastly, I'll point out that even by your own analysis, he made several great throws. Considering the BCS game wasn't his best game, as Oregon clearly game planned for him, and in the later part it he was playing hurt... for him to come out and throw the way he did shows me he has toughness and poise in the face of adversity.

one thing I saw in the NC game was the defense Oregon came out with in the beginning...

closest thing you'll see to an NFL defense. A lot of moving parts, hard to tell where the blitz was going to come from.. really screwed with him..

You asked for someone to show you examples of where he had bad footwork and poor accuracy. I showed it to you and now you don't want to respond.

Fair enough, just stop making posts about Cam like you promised.

And you see Bulger doing better?

NO! i see Bulger teaching Clausen which could make him a better QB, i rather gamble on Clausen with a proper coaching staff than gamble on Newton who SHOULD sit on the bench like his former teammate The Golden Calf of Bristol did.

yes he made some good throws, BUT he missed some wide open throws, add to it you said Oregon game planned for him, that will happen each and every week in the NFL, teams will gameplan and figure out his weaknesses and dare him to beat them with his weaknesses. as for the playing hurt, he will have to do that more and more if he runs 14 or more times and remember the NFL hits will be much harder. Newton has potential i am not denying that, but i think it's best for him to sit on the bench and learn and unless we get McNabb, i dont see that happening because it's likely (if they did draft him) he would start on day one.

No I said:

Someone please show me consistent evidence to back these claims up (like, a whole game where he is throwing off his front foot) and I'll stop making Cam threads.

You didn't show me consistent evidence of a whole game of bad throws off his front foot. You linked your opinion on his BCS performance. An opinion that he's a bad player, despite winning the game against the best defense in college.

Cam posts will continue until after the draft at this rate.

The best defense in college? You must be off your rocker big time.

He made more bad throws than good throws and he didn't have good footwork one time that whole game. That's pretty consistent but I guess keep making them.
