Give me Cam, or A.J. Green, I need weapons on my Madden team, lol. In all seriousness as a fan base the Rivera hiring really seemed to energize a lot of people, I think picking up one of these two could have the same affect on the fans and add some excitement around the team as well.

I'm currently strongly against us drafting defense early as we had a very good defense, too much time on the field made them look worse than advertised. So I say we go offense early add some DB depth in the mid rounds, and address DT through FA. Honestly we just need a space eater/a body that requires a double team.

Everyone's blind love for Cam Newton is giving me Blind hate for the guy...

from an athlete standpoint, Newton is a monster magnet. From a QB standpoint, he is a project and not worthy of the #1 overall pick. Now please just understand that so we can move on with our lives.

People are doing the same thing with fairly but you still like him right?

no they aren't. Fairley is a beast and fits an immediate need for us. he is about as good as it gets as a DT prospect(excluding Suh of course) and many think he'll make an immediate impact.

most, if not all scouts are saying Newton is a project and is in no way worth a #1 pick. they say the exact opposite about Fairley.

What immediate need???

We finished the year at #18 in Defense. We finished #32 in offense. As coach Rivera said, we have a solid core for defense, and with some work can become a successful unit.

But in the division we are in, with Drew Brees, the TD machine, if we can't score points, we will lose. Same thing could be said of Ryan and Freeman to a lesser degree.

Because scouts are never influenced by media bias, or are ever wrong?

Tell you don't seriously think DT doesn't qualify as an immediate need

This should be interesting as things heat up. Both Quarterback and DT are huge needs for us. In other years we would be through the first part of free agency before the draft and know if we can get a QB veteran who can fill the spot so we can go after a guy Like Fairley. If there is a lockout and no free agency before April this year, the question is really how good do you feel about Clausen. If you feel good then you pass on a quarterback and go elsewhere. If you don't then you have to pull the trigger on someone. Then the choice is which one. The combine and individual workouts will go a long way to deciding this. Anything decided today could change a dozen times by April depending on either a lockout or a new CBA.

And New England would have taken Armanti Edwards if we hadn't traded our future to go up and get him I swear.

Tell me how that reach is working out.

seriously, all his arguments for cam newton could be used for campaigning for armanti edwards as the #1 overall pick.

Strong arm

Does nothing but win

Extends plays

Won the heisman (or the D2 version of it)

all he has to do is work on his footwork/decision making/not taking off if his first read is covered.

no reason NOT to take him number 1

lol he is the best player in the draft cause i said so.

plays in a spread offense, lol so what?

I mean really? come on. the only difference between the two is that cam is taller than armanti.

I think what he means is that QB is a bigger need than DT, which is correct. Too bad there aren't any QBs worth taking #1.

I might agree on it being a bigger need, but it doesn't really matter if there's no one worth gambling on.

Pretty solid point.

(CM's above is too)
