JFC... he started 10 games... that's 3.3 sacks a game.

Had he started all 16, and the trend continued, he would have added 19.8 sacks to that 33 total, for about 53 sacks rounding up.

There is not a huge disparity between 76 and 53 sacks. That's a poo-load of sacks to eat, and would shell shock anyone.

Rankings are simply AP journalists and sports analysts. You draft what you need. Right now, our defense is serviceable. Hell, as Beason pointed out in a blog post recently, we were as high as #4 on D this past year.

We need someone who can lead this team to victory. Cam can do that. He isn't a project. His mechanics aren't as screwed up as people say they are. His sheer athleticism elevates his teammates.

It's Newton time.

Also i believe Newton is worth a first round pick, but based on the games i have seen on him and the one read and run system he plays in i believe he is going to be a long term project in no way worthy of the #1 pick.

Carr was "carr'd" because he took 70 sacks.

Jimmy took 33 sacks.

Do you see how those numbers are different?? It doesn't matter if he'd have taken 40, 50, or 80 if he had started all 16 games. He didn't. He only took 33 sacks. It's not like Clausen woke up in the morning and went, "Oh MAN am I afraid to play football because I coulda taken another 30 sacks if I'd played in more games!!!" and if he is, any number of sacks woulda done that.

Plenty of QBs took more sacks than he did this year and I've not heard anyone saying "oh god Flacco could be Carr'd now!"

College awards are vastly overrated Chris Weike won a Heisman for crying out loud.

43 more sacks absorbed in what amounts to being three more games played is enormous... not to mention how many more hits he took that were not sacks.
