What does Broncos' hiring of Fox say about Panthers?

What, if anything, does Denver's hiring of John Fox say about the Panthers as an organization? Many analysts agree that Denver is one of the top coaching jobs in the NFL, so John Fox is arguably in a much better situation today than he was three weeks ago. Large media market, large fan base, rich history, beautiful city, blah blah blah...makes Denver the place to be. What more could a coach ask for?

Now, I believed it was just time for the Panthers and Fox to part the ways, but looking at how the last couple of years have gone down, isn't there an argument that, on some level, it makes the Panthers organization even more odd than it has appeared to be the last couple of years, from the renewing of Jake's contract, the allowing of Pep to freely walk away, the refusal to deal Williams and/or Smith before the trade deadline, to the jettisoning of so many vets at key positions.

What say the Huddle?

What does it say? That John Elway is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. That fact =/= knowing how to run a team. Most GMs work their way up, grinding at scouting, personnel work, etc., before getting even a sniff of running a franchise. Could Elway pull it off? Sure. It's possible. He could also be the next Matt Millen.

Fox has a resume that has him getting blown out as a D-Coordinator in the Super Bowl and coming very close to winning one as a HC. 3 winning seasons out of 9 isn't that impressive...he merely offers some semblance of stability, which Denver hasn't had since Shanahan (who IMO Denver would have been better off keeping if they've turned to John Fox now)
