I Hate to Burst Your Bubble (Fairley)

Seriously, the work ethic issues = bullshit. I just re-watched the entire National Championship game this morning and all I did was fast forward to every snap when Auburn was on defense. Yes it is but one game, but all I did was focus on Fairley and removed everything else that goes along with watching a game of that magnitude. He was phenomenal! A few plays he did overplay on and got burned on a delay or a counter that was run to perfection. Though he didn't make the tackle, he caused that safety. He had 2 sacks and a forced fumble. He was in the Oregon backfield so much against a team that was averaging over 300 yards ON THE GROUND. A player that hasn't played a game snap in almost 40 days showed up in beast mode. A lazy player does not. Again, one game, but if you say he is lazy, please back it up with some evidence. It seems more to me that one of Kiper's minions or a couple of guys on message boards through out the "lazy" tag and it has stuck, without any true proof to back it up. If there is evidence to Fairley's laziness, please show it or point me in the direction that I can find it, and I will gladly eat crow on that.

Yes, we have Smith, the guy who bitches about his QB to the press and sucker punches teammates. A 32 year old former superstar current cancer. DT is deep in this draft, and Dareus is the only DT who has proven to do much more than shoot gaps. #1 WRs like Green come around 2-3 times each decade.

Pass on Green and you will regret it every time you watch SportsCenter.

despite having a really shitty passing game, and even though we were middle of the pack in overall defense, this being despite the fact that our defense was on the field more than 27 other teams, had more plays from scrimmage run against us than 27 other teams, and only had 6 more teams give up less yards per play than we did, and just hired a defensive head coach and have a lot of good free agency options we need this Fairley guy and we just need him and i love him and want to have his babies because he's a DT and that's what you need a DT and we need it because we need it because DTs are DTs and you don't miss with DTs and everyone picks DTs no.1 overall so we should do it too and we need to have it because we need it now because the defense needs it because they're bad because I just watched the BCS championship and Fairley was a beast did you see him i mean he's just a stud DT and that's the key to winning this game is a STUD DT nevermind offense who needs to score points we just need DEFENSE ALL TEH TIMEEEEEEE BABY

We are assuming that teams let their best DTs walk. Which may or may not happen...and if we don't get a new CBA, no one goes anywhere. Then what?

I admit i was assuming that the CBA will go through and that a player that fits the profile of an upgrade in the middle will reach FA. Call me crazy but i thought we had some room in the salary cap to make a move. Also is the Big Cat not highly involved in the talks. As a organization we need to make some waves. We will do that. Drafting a DT with your first overall is not gonna make the highlights. It does not happen for a reason.

Let me ask you if you think Rivera and his staff are incompetent. I do not think they are gonna make Fairley their project to show what our defense can do. If they were gonna take on a talented defensive player Dont ya think Patrick Peterson would be more interesting? The Chargers have always loved drafting Corners high. The defense needs really solid corners. Personally if i was looking at it purely based on NEED which that is what Fairley is i would go with Patrick or Green. Check out the young secondarys of the Chiefs and Patriots and tell me we should not emulate.

Of course we need a pass rush from the middle it is a highly effective way to pressure the QB. But this is NOT the SEC. This is not Oregon Olines.

I look back at the Chicago Bear's defenses under Rivera. They were predicated on a disruptive DLine....great LB's...and adequate corners (yes Tillman and Vasher were adequate...not great).

Adding Fairley with Johnson, Brayton, and Brown could provide a line that would provide pressure on the QB. Davis-Beason-Anderson are very good and very fast LB's.

So, if he is more like his days in Chicago....I could see him want Fairley.

If he will run a D more like SD....I could see Petterson.
