Fox has a pretty good chance to succeed in Denver.

(and in doing so, to cause this board to go unnecessarily postal)

he's landing in a great situation for him. they have a good offense already. they just need a defense.

I don't see them giving up Orton now unless they really are not letting him near the offensive side of the ball AT ALL... Orton seems like a Fox kinda QB.

Could be a good fit as far as need. Denver has been a league worst rushing attack and very inconsistent defensively. Fox should be an immediate improvement in those departments. But I don't know if there could be a bigger mismatch as far as the personnel he inherits. Nonetheless they have some talent and it will be interesting to see how it works out for him..

I always thought he was a good coach, way to conservative for my taste but I thought he was solid. I am very excited about the future but I did kinda hate to see him go. Ironic he got a better job quickly.. gotta be happy for him.

Fox is a very good coach for turning a team around. His safe, conservative, and tough style of football is good for getting bad teams up to average. The problem is that his style is not one that takes a team from average to consistent winner and contender.

He's a good hire for them now, but in a couple of years, they will need to either let him go in order to take the next step, or follow us into the world of inconsistency and moderate results.

From what I've heard, Fox actually has a great personality when he's not talking to the media.

Really? Because I've heard he gives handjobs behind Arby's every now and then while chewing gum ferociously.

Don't quote me on that though, I've only just heard it around.

Fox will make them a avg team. Something they have not seen in a long time. I doubt he will take them to a SB though. He has progressed into Mr. playitsafe with his time in Carolina. I will laugh my ass off if he brings Turdo back.

Say what?

We've been about as average as it gets these past few years. In fact, our 4-12 record is the worst slide in franchise history, that's 51 years sir. Prior to this season, we were the only team to never post 4-12 or worse in regular season.

We're among the winningest and most stable franchises of all and the only franchise to never have been shutout at home. Actually, we haven't been shutout since 1992, a league best.

Anyway..

I'm happy with the hire, definitely liking it. Thank you for letting go of Fox, just what we need in Denver with the system we're employing.

I expect Fox to take us back to average/slightly below average right from the get go and then we'll go from there. However, it is essential he and GM Xanders get the draft just right and for the love of someone, lets get rid of Orton. Interested? (you shouldn't be)

Great hire in Rivera! I absolutely hated having him in our division, he's that good..

Best of luck to you guys, you deserve some success but you'll need to get rid of that bum Clausen, seriously. He is beyond horrible and I knew it from the get go. Quit making excuses for the guy and get yourself a real quarterback. People laughed but damn, am I happy we got The Golden Calf of Bristol and not Clausen in Denver.

Cya in the playoffs come 2012!

They have no defense. On top of that Fox is gonna change them from a 3-4 to 4-3 which doesn't fit probably the best playmaker on the D.

The run game is weak.

If Fox is in the postseason within the next 2 years it is b/c a 7-9 or 8-8 team makes it. Fox doesn't have the pieces in place to play Foxball.

Within two years, 11-5 and a top 10 defense. Will bet you all the money in my pocket right now (6 bucks). :)

The one thing Fox seems to be good at on the offensive side is finding running backs. Denver will either bring in a solid free agent, ala Stephen Davis, or pick up someone in the draft.

Defensively, I have no doubt that Fox will make them significantly better. Even if switching defenses, he will have them in the top 10 in two years.

Only question is QB, and I am betting that Denver's front office will have a say in who the OC and QB's coach is.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
