Cam newton declares for the NFL Draft

If you want the guy in this draft that would help our offense out most (especially year 1) its Newton. If he can even come close to the success on the ground he did in college he will help open up this running game. And his deep ball would be awesome in a down the field attacking O.

I have no real concerns about Talent level when it comes to Newton. What concerns me is his work ethic. I have no idea how much love he has for the game so I can not comment on that. I think it all boils down to how he does in interviews.

If you think he is going to be the guy first in last out every practice and will put in the time in the tape room then you take him and don't look back. If not pass on him and select your top D prospect. For me its Bowers or Quinn, Fairley to me he is just too much of a risk for not enough reward (I really don't get all the hype he seems to take advantage of mistakes alot which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Green is not going to be our pick (barring a Smith/WR trade) you can quote me on that.

Damn I'm good.

No doubt Cam needs work after all he played one season for a D-1 school in a spread offense. He reminds of Jason Pierre-Paul last year. Huge talent potential but really inexperienced. Someone is going to recognize his huge talent much like the Giants did and are going to work with him over time. Seems to me that he could be like Aaron Rodgers. Allowed to learn and mature and then become the starter for the next decade. He is definitely worthy of a number 1 pick IMO.

I agree with those who say we won't pull the trigger. Not because we shouldn't, simply because they won't bring in a rookie two years in a row and have such an inexperienced trio of Clausen, Pike, and Newton at quarterback. In fact I doubt we get a Qb at all. Wrong time and circumstance.

Too bad really, he is going to be the real deal one day and teams that passed on him are going to look back at missed opportunities. Then again it has to the right time and circumstance and I don't think with Rivera's desire we win right away fits with another long term project. He will want to show the FO that they made the right choice by winning in 2011. and that means a veteran starting.

What was I wrong about? About the fact we would draft him and it would take time to develop him. But about everything else, I was spot on like usual.

By god, if Sam Bradford can come into the NFL and be a starter, Cam has the talent and tools to start as well. All this talk of him being a "project" is simply regurgitation of establishment hatred for

1: His prior issues with the University of Florida.

2: His father's NCAA infraction.

3: The fact he isn't Andrew Luck's ethnicity.

you're so wrong it isn't even funny.

Bradford was labeled a project, too, fyi.

Bradford operated in such a different offense than Cam Newton and with such a different style that comparing the two is unfair.

Saying Newton could make an impact this year is fine, but saying he's not a project and chalking people who say he is up to racism is bullpoo.

:cheers2:

I have several SEC homer friends, and I still wasn't aware of anyone who believed Cam Newton was a decent NFL QB. I, for one, expect him to be an amazing WR. He would be just about unstoppable.

"The realist" hasn't been seen since week one of the regular season. He disappeared after chastising me about Cam being a terrible passer and would obviously fail because of the magical pass/run ratio that has doomed all QBs.

 KJDaniel31 RIP- He won't be missed
