Cam newton declares for the NFL Draft

Whats even worse is that most people will hype a guy like Gabbert up because of it even when they haven't actually see him play (sorry fans but he straight up sucks). Just another big tall strong arm QB draft pundits are drooling over. If he was Clausen size and arm strength you would have never heard of him.

so let me get this straight. If Gabbert was not Gabbert, but was Clausen running a spread offense with a good throwing motion we'd never have heard of him? I think we would have, and his name woulda been Chase Daniels. ;P Seriously, if you take away those two of Gabbert's good sides you still have his throwing motion over Clausen's. But when you start to detract physical qualities from someone what's it matter?? That's like saying "Vick wouldn't be so good if he was a statue in the pocket like Dan Marino!!"

Seriously, just because you didn't hear about Gabbert doesn't mean he sucks. He doesn't. He's not getting picked #1 overall but he's a good prospect.

No watching the film of him is what makes me think he sucks. I was actually excited about him when I read his reviews. I just didn't see any reason to even consider him before the 2nd (on tape). And as far as my Clausen comment I was meaning if he didn't have a cannon he wouldn't even be in the conversation. Arm strength for QB's is about as overrated as the 40 yard dash.

No doubt Cam needs work after all he played one season for a D-1 school in a spread offense. He reminds of Jason Pierre-Paul last year. Huge talent potential but really inexperienced. Someone is going to recognize his huge talent much like the Giants did and are going to work with him over time. Seems to me that he could be like Aaron Rodgers. Allowed to learn and mature and then become the starter for the next decade. He is definitely worthy of a number 1 pick IMO.

I agree with those who say we won't pull the trigger. Not because we shouldn't, simply because they won't bring in a rookie two years in a row and have such an inexperienced trio of Clausen, Pike, and Newton at quarterback. In fact I doubt we get a Qb at all. Wrong time and circumstance.

Too bad really, he is going to be the real deal one day and teams that passed on him are going to look back at missed opportunities. Then again it has to the right time and circumstance and I don't think with Rivera's desire we win right away fits with another long term project. He will want to show the FO that they made the right choice by winning in 2011. and that means a veteran starting.

yeah we have 2 QBs as projects as it is, a third is just unlikely (which rules out pretty much everyone in this draft class of QBs). We have serious needs at other places.

I expect us to go out and get a veteran QB in FA, not just to mentor but to actually play.

By god, if Sam Bradford can come into the NFL and be a starter, Cam has the talent and tools to start as well. All this talk of him being a "project" is simply regurgitation of establishment hatred for

1: His prior issues with the University of Florida.

2: His father's NCAA infraction.

3: The fact he isn't Andrew Luck's ethnicity.

Cam Newton timeline:

Get in trouble at Florida

Get money, go to Auburn

Get awards and title at Auburn

Get the hell outta dodge before poo goes down

Get drafted

Get more money

Watch as Auburn is sanctioned in lue of "new evidence"

you're so wrong it isn't even funny.

Bradford was labeled a project, too, fyi.

Bradford operated in such a different offense than Cam Newton and with such a different style that comparing the two is unfair.

Saying Newton could make an impact this year is fine, but saying he's not a project and chalking people who say he is up to racism is bullshit.
