Most famous celebrity you ever had a conversation with?

Mark Richardson ... I know people here won't be impressed, but he has always been as friendly as he can be with me. In Year 1, we had a downtown rally and held a private reception in a restaurant. My daughter and I (I was part of the planning team) ended up eating dinner with him while watching the party from a second-story window. He was super nice to my daughter, and I know she's never forgotten the experience. Of course, I've met Mr. Richardson numerous times, and he was good friends with my dad. Yes, that's part of why I defend him so much on this board ... but it's mostly because I think he's an exceptional man.

I suppose the most famous people I've talked to are George A. Romero and Tammy Fay Baker. I co-wrote a zombie film that was part of a larger zombie film competition in Charlotte that Romero helped judge. Tammy Fay Baker, well, I got in a heated chat with her about why the store I was working at didn't carry bowling shoes in small sizes.

I got trashed with Tom Savini a couple of times, but have yet to meet Mr. Romero.

Very cool.

A friend and I stopped to check out the campus of UNC Asheville one fall after driving back from Nashville. I was thinking about going to school there (and later did).

Anyway, Tom Savini was speaking that night, and while we both wanted to see him speak, we both had to get home. I should've stayed to check it out!

Was in LA with the wife (at the time girlfriend) at an interview. We were having a beverage or two in the hotel bar.

Went upstairs at the hotel to talk to a man about a horse, came back down to find her getting chatted up by Warren Beatty.

He was polite and eventually returned to his group gathering.

She had absolutely no clue who the hell "the old man that was just hitting on me" was.

She mentioned that he was a good conversationalist, they had some things in common (grew up near DC, went to NU) and he was smooth.

I informed her who he is, and her response was classic.

"Hm. Too bad he is so damn old".

Thanks honey.

Met a ton of sports stars in the 90's when I worked for ESPN. Spent a week amonth at the ESPN campus in Bristol...Elway, Muhammed Ali, Marino, etc..

However, the most interesting was Colin Powell. Sat next to him on a flight from Chicago to Shanghai China about two years ago. I was able to talk to him for a little while....tried not to overdo it as he (like all on the flight) was trying to get some rest.

I've met a handful. Not many have much star power currently (Sigourney Weaver, Michael Jai White (Spawn), the late Stan Winston (awesome dude), Adam Hughes (ask PSC who that is), Kevin Plank (creator of Under Armour)). I did meet Leo, but I'd hardly say I had a conversation with him.

I can tell you, the best conversation I ever had with a "celebrity" is Edwin Williams (currently a rookie OL with the Bears). He was just a sweet guy with a great head on his shoulders. He was sharp, very quick with funny retorts, and had this great attitude of "I don't know if I will make the NFL or not, if it doesn't work out I have a plan B, and if that doesn't work out, plan C, but I'm going to play football for as long as they will have me." I hope he has at least a decent career, because he would make one hell of a great broadcaster some day, and I told him as much when I met him.

He's not a big name, but I'd rather have another conversation with him than some A-lister who would have to look up "humble" in the dictionary to have the foggiest idea of the concept, any day of the week.
