AJ Green or Nick Fairley

I am not necessarily saying that WR is our biggest need, per se, either. What I am saying is to not be penny wise and pound foolish. Yeah, it may appear wise as hell to draft Fairley in the immediate (notwithstanding questions about his character and work ethic), but in the long run...when AJ Green is exactly what everybody thinks he is---an exceptional and outstanding talent at WR, making teams look stupid that passed up on him and others wishing that they had a real chance to get him, then the Panthers are going to look mighty foolish.

I am absolutly torn on this decision. Do I want Green and Gettis lining up on the outside with Smith in the slot or a D-Line of Johnson-Fairley-FA(Seymour/Cofield/Mebane)-Hardy. I do not think you could go wrong with either but who is the rest of the huddle pulling for?

I want to run a 3-4, we have the linebackers but we don't have the NT. We need to get that in the offseason whether that's in the form of Nick Fairley or through FA, that's yet to be determined. As for Green, well I have to remember the names of my current WRs before I can even think about kids we haven't even drafted yet. Of course there's 89, then there's uhhhh... Gennis, Lapel, and Armani... right?

Also, Fairley is a 4-3 DT; he's just around 300 lbs and is NOT in any way shape or form a 3-4 NT. If anything he'd be a DE in a 3-4. He's a 4-3 pass rushing DT. That's what he is. And as a prospect scares the ever loving sh** out of me. He literally has bust written all over him.

I voted Fairley. Green is a phenomenal prospect, but in the NFL, the QB position is most important and right behind that is the trenches. We don't have a starting caliber NFL DT on our roster right now. We have some promising young DEs, but for those guys to take the next step they need some help in the middle and Fairley would provide that.

Ron Rivera is too smart to think that Fairley is a nose tackle. He'd be a DE in a 3-4.

We're not running a 3-4, though. Rivera already said we're a 4-3 defense at his press conference.

i really really like both of these players. both fill an immediate need. my gut tells me Green will be in more probowls than Fairley, so i'm voting him.

I honestly think Green will give the best pre-draft interview and put up the best numbers at the combine, assuming he participates. Might give him the edge.

Curious....what makes you think that he would be a better pre-draft interview?

Because I've seen them both give interviews on TV and Fairley doesn't come off as confident as Green does. He comes off a little immature, which he is. Green comes off like a player ready to take his skills to the next level.

When two prospects are this close things like that matter a whole lot.

what would you call a 12th ranked defense with no name DTs who just signed the best defensive mind in the league with a last ranked offense and DTs available in FA and deep in the draft?
