AJ Green or Nick Fairley

Found this little tidbit interesting on ESPN.

Which is interesting, because the Panthers don't have a desperate need for a tackle. While they faced 503 runs last year, the fifth-highest total in the league, they allowed only 123.8 rushing yards per game (23rd) and 3.9 yards per carry (10th). Further, Football Outsiders credited Carolina's Derek Landri with 12 rushing defeats (tackles for a loss or stops on third or fourth down) last season, tops among defensive tackles in the league.

Maybe DT isn't as desperate a situation as we think. It needs an upgrade, no question, but reality doesn't seem to make it as dire as many here.

Great info, man. I've said all along, Landri is a keeper.

I don't think anyone will argue that DT is a need, but I disagree that it's our biggest need..and I know a bit about football, and I've been a Panther fan since inception. I'd put QB and coaching staff as bigger needs. One of these has been satisfied, the other will probably have to wait til next year for the long term solution. Best way to hide the need for now, get guys like Green. Then when our future is set at QB (hopefully next year), we'll have a Manning-Harrison, Brady-Moss type relationship in the making.

Landri's the only one who has shown enough to warrant possibly staying on the roster, but only as a back-up. We need legitimate starters.

Also, Landri leaves us with ONE below average/possibly decent DT. We have three good receivers already. With this in mind, how can anyone say that we need to draft a WR over DT?

How is he tops in the league but he is only good for a backup on our team...someone is being stubborn.

Him beings "tops in the league" in some obscure statistic doesn't make him a starter. If you actually paid attention to our interior D-Line during games, you would know that he got blown off the line and gave up big gains more often than actually stopping the runner. And even if Landri was a legitimate starter, which he isn't, that would still leave us with one acceptable DT on the roster and three acceptable WR's. Please explain to me how this makes WR the bigger need?

I would be happy with any of the choices we have for the first overall pick...I would just rather have the shut down corner (Peterson) than Adriel Green or Nick Fairley. I see it as more of a need position with all of the good QB's in our division and the team losing Marshall.
