AJ Green or Nick Fairley

same applies in all scenarios.. I think with Rivera being the coach, a lot of DT's would rather come in here and learn from one of the better defensive minds in the game than we have for WRs to do that..

12th ranked defense without any DTs... add in Rivera's expertise to have #1 ranked defenses..

32nd ranked offense and need another threat at WR...

Pretty sure McNabb would love to come and be the guy, teach our Clausen along the way... or maybe we find a way to bring in Orton..

Two key phrases here: I think and Pretty sure. In other words, there's no way to know. Not all that different than JR being pretty sure that Matt Moore would be an efficient QB, or the running game will carry us through the season, or that the OL would be a strength.

The problem with these assumptions is that when they do not play out like you think, they devastate the team. But at least with JR, he had something to base his assumptions on other than hope and guesswork. That's why it's usually a better idea that when two things are virtually equal, you take the safer path...which in this case is the DT. It is a much bigger need than WR, and we are guaranteed of getting the best one in the draft, a guy that is rated equal to the best WR available.

And as others have said, WR was not the reason for our bad offense. There's the obvious coaching issue. But also, if we would have gotten even basic efficiency from the QB position, things would have been far different. The two key components to any offense are its coaching and QB play...and both were horrible this year. Green won't change that, and is simply a luxury for a team that has other, much more pressing needs.

Good luck drafting a player in the first round of the NFL draft and expecting him not to spoiled or self-centered.

totally late on this but

i was talking about haynesworth, not Fairley.

I still think he'll be selfcentrned, but not Haynesworth bad.

To quote myself..

Also Plaxico Buress is going to be free this year. Just a thought. Lots more legitimate WR FA's than DT.

lol those WR FAs suck, if they aren't old as dirt they shot themselves in the foot probably trying to be gangster, no thanks.

We have a rookie QB and the best WR prospect in years which means you know he is truly worth the risk. Why not get a solid WR from the draft? In free agency there are rarley young WRs with promise. Our offense has one or two weapons, that is our problem. Although Jackson is a valid, young option I agree he would fit and Rivera might be able to bring him in at a low price.

Funny you could say the same thing about Newton or Quinn on D. I really don't see Green helping us as we are. Now maybe if we get someone like Orton or maybe even Mcnabb (we would probably need to switch to some variant of the WCO which also helps Clausen) I'm fine with Green but not when Clausen is your answer at QB.

Im leaning towards A.J. Green actually but The FA wrs arent gangster scrubs like u think.

Wr: Sidney Rice, Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith, NYG, Santonio Holmes, Donald Driver, Mike Sims-Walker, Steve Breaston,, Malcolm Floyd, Jacoby Jones, James Jones, Brian Finneran, Lance Moore.

You have to figure most of those guys get resigned but even if only a 1/4 of them make it thats a pretty good class. I want no part of Moore though. That Saints offense has taken a lot of late round or scrub receivers and made them look great.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards

    • Also, Martin is pretty good if the defense is doing anything.
