AJ Green or Nick Fairley

If we're sticking with Jimmy, I don't want any excuses for him next year. A healthy O-line and the first WR of the draft, hard not to succeed with that.

Also, being dead last in offense, I think we need more fire power to score which Green can help with. We can survive on D as it is, we just need more points.

Guys, let's look at this a little more analytically. Green is the color of money, which means AJ Green is probably going to be obsessed with getting paid and won't be a team player. It's also the color of peas and asparagus, and no one likes that sh*t. This is a no-brainer to me.

It's hard to say on this one. A lot of variables...Will Smitty be back? The draft is deep for DT's, but not free agency. The opposite goes for WR's. If we can somehow get back in the second round, I would go Green, then Marvin Austin.

it is amazing at how torn i am on this decision i was leaning on green, but the more i think about the more i like the idea of bringing in Fairley, a FA DT, and Asomaugh. JR said he is willing to spend money then lets go out and get the best defesive player on the market.

a defense of:

DE: Greg Hardy

NT:Brandon Mebane/Paul Solia

DT: Nick Fairley

DE: Charles Johnson

WLB: Thomas Davis

MLB: Jon Beason

SLB: James Anderson

CB: Chris Gamble

SS: Charles Godfrey

FS: Sherrod Martin

CB: Nnamdi Asomaugh

would be absolutly dominant.

would be absolutly dominant.

so too would AJ Green, a QB who could get receivers the ball, and anything close to that kind of money sunk into the offense... where it is needed more...

IMO, if we spend our #1 draft pick and our major acquisition on defense... we better have a real good plan of how to address offense.

Green. I really like Fairley but Green has shown it his entire college career. Fairley has only had the one year as a starter, even though it was a really dominant one. I'd feel a lot safer with A.J., plus it wins us points with hippies.

this is the best reason I've heard on why we need to draft Green over Fairley, lol

on a serious note, I feel he is a safer pick as well.. and adding another threat to offense will help greatly.. esp if we can snag McNabb or somehow get Orton here..

now if we actually grab a FA WR like Malcom Floyd, then I'm good with whatever we choose to do.

fairley is awfully close to fairy.

just an observation. (and if we draft him, i am saltmans alter ego.)

i have no idea what the salary cap situation is but we should have enough to bring back Rosario, Williams, Davis, Anderson, Johnson, and Kalil. We should have enough to bring in Asoumaugh and a DT.

on offense we will still have

QB: Clausen

RB: Williams/Stewart/Goodson

FB: Fiammetta

WR: Smith

WR: LaFell

WR: Gettis

TE: Rosario

LT: Gross

LG: Wharton

C: Kalil

RG:

RT: Otah

I think we are sticking with Clausen and we have weapons, so hopefully a new offensive scheme will get the most out of our players.

I would buy a tie-dyed #8 jersey. :sifone:

Taking Green makes absolutely no sense, DT is ten times a bigger need, so Green may score TDs but we will still never get any pressure on the QB. Also it's hard-pressed to find dominate DTs in the later rounds, unlike WRs - I mean we got Gettis in the 6th round this year - we took 3 WRs last year. I know Green is going to be a stud but so is Fairley. Taking Green makes no sense, what's the point in filling up the depth chart with a ton of talent at one position. Whether you like it or not, as a Panther fan you have to admit we need Fairley more.
