AJ Green or Nick Fairley

The good thing is that Rivera and McDermott will damn sure address the DT position....even if we do not take Fairely with the #1 pick.

Rivera knows how critical it is for an agressive defense to get significant pressure from the front 4......like he did in his Chicago days.

If you have to get pressure from blitzing, it leaves your defense vulnerable if you don't get there.

Pressure from the front 4...then blitz when you want to. Not because you have to.

I guarantee with our brain trust that we will be able to stick some veterans in positions that will make them succeed. We have alot of good knowledge on that side of the ball so far and we haven't even announced the rest of the position coaches.

there appear to be alot of DTs in the draft. we could get Green and a very solid DT if it wasnt for that GD armanti edwards move...pffffff. I mean the least they could have done is let the dude play QB instead of bringing in Brian Saint Pierre. At least if would have been interesting. by the way , why not give the kid a shot at QB. I cant find much film on youtube , are his mechanics that bad? he threw for 10k how bad can they be?

He's 5ft9 and can't throw a ball even as far as I can. He torched Division II, but then again I threw for 1,700 yards in 3A Texas football so maybe I should get a shot!?

PS: That was on JV....Varsity stats were much, much fewer.

He is 5'11 and he eats flutie flakes. You just compared your arm strength to him and then gave jv high school stats. For real , that happened, you really went there.

You know you were BAD if you still remember your stats 10 years later. I expect Armanti to remember his passing stats in 2020 as well. Hopefully, by then, his NFL receiving stats are much tougher to recall.

Why are you talking about AE the qb, when he is a wide reciever? Our next best shot at a dual threat QB is Taylor/

No...

Or you know that one that actually is in 1st round consideration. You may have heard of him. Stands at 6'6" and went to Auburn.

.....and No.

When will people learn that these super athletic running QB's simply have almost no chance of becoming an average NFL starter, much less good one. Vince, Matt Jones, Brad Smith, Randel El, every QB from Nebraska, Taylor, Newton....they will all have been, will be or should have been decent NFL players, simply not at QB. Just like TONS of good high school QBs become great NCAA Rbs, Wrs, and such. I can't understand why this is an insult.

I'm sure there are a couple of exceptions, which are easily named, but I'd much rather play the 98% odds than the 2%.

couldn't agree more, everyone is all on the Michael Vick train right now but he really choked offensively his last game, and here in a couple years he wont be able to outrun defenders anymore. certain types of players in college just don't translate to the pros. Look at how successful graham harrell, pat white, chase daniel, colt brennan were in college.

Yea, I was surprised and disappointed Tyler and Leonard got cut...but it had nothing to do with being cheap, they didn't have big contracts... Our preseason pass rush was the result of preseason games being meaningless and no one really giving it 100%

do you have a link to these stats? From what I observed our run D F78cking sucked. I mean we were getting gashed on the reg. That is why our linebackers and secondary had so many tackles because our DTs were terrible. I personally thought Tank Tyler and Louis leonard were decent. Our pass rush was awesome in preseason with them. Then they were cut and the misery began. I guess maybe they played crappy in preseason? or did we really just go super cheap?

I will revisit this thread after the draft to laugh at these green loving bitches

This is stupid. The only way that you would have any credibility at laughing is if Green turns out to be a bust. If he becomes a beast in the NFL---whether on the Panthers or not---then you laughing at someone for some misdirected I-told-you-so-internet-machismo is basically juvenile (and really, it's immature either way).

BTW, it's all hope and guess work here. No one knows who the hell we're going to draft, and---at the end of the day---what we think doesn't mean a damn thing.

I like Green, but if we get Fairley, Bowers, or Peterson (or none of the above), it's not like I am going to go wallow in misery and disbelief. At the end of the day, hopefully I will see improvement in the team, that's what's going to make me happy.
