If Emmanwori  turns out to be a Troy Palumalu, Ed Reed, or Earl Thomas it would definitely be worth it. I know most teams don't consider Safety to be a premium position. But, when I look back at the the great defenses in the NFL over my lifetime, all of the them tend to have a difference maker at the Safety position, either as an Enforcer or a Ballhawk.

Oh yeah, if it's a guy like that, absolutely. Or even a Kyle Hamilton(taken #14, BTW). You can sign me up for that all day.

But if he isn't that.....oh wee mayne it's gonna be a rough time in the Panthers FO after making him a top 10 pick.

The author has no inside information and is going off rumors like the Panthers might take a wr just not at 8 article.  It basically says nothing so you are covered if it doesn't come true. Trading back would be beneficially to a club with so many holes. Someone may want the OT's or RB or a QB so it is not beyond the realm of possibility. I don't like to trade back in mocks for 2026 picks but in reality that is not a bad proposition because this team is not ready to challenge in '25.

Yup, it's Joe Person, he had no inside information.

Yeah, I am not sure I am buying that. Or that he is a definitively elite player. His ceiling is very high, without a doubt.

He's been mocked to either the Ravens or Eagles in the past week. Prior to that it was the Dolphins. He's big and fast with great ball skills so who knows? I feel the same way about him as I do Walker, uncertain.

Don't think the Panthers wanting to trade is a story worthy of a Pulitzer.  With Sanders likely falling and Saints increased need at QB obviously sending a message to anyone wanting to get ahead of New Orleans like maybe Pitt.

Plus looking at a lot of the visits the Panthers appear to be looking at a lotta players that would appear to be more late teens into early second and some guys you wouldn't think would be around at 57.  Granted some of those guys maybe rated incorrectly for public consumption.  But seems like Panthers have been looking at moving around on the board for a while.

that's it you have to really know how to properly evaluate your team .if not you trade up thinking your just one player away when in reality you are 2/3rds of a team away  & in the process trade away the #1 overall pick the following year because your team had the worse record in football & was nowhere close to just one player away

when you trade up or down it all BEGINS with evaluation not player evaluation but the team as a whole evaluation ...just saying

I think the very high tier guys are pretty scarce in this draft.  Ideally I would love a slight move down and have someone drop.  Definitely think they are targeting Mykel but if that is wrong I would love a move down and get Tyler Warren.  He makes the offense so much better immediately

These EDGE guys all and I do mean ALL, have holes in their games.  The drop off from Carter to the next cluster of EDGE guys is fairly steep.  If we have three EDGE guys ranked close together and move down several spots, we are nearly guaranteed to get at least one of them.

I keep seeing this as an excuse as to not to draft edge players.

Every draft; all players have holes in their game.  That's how it is coming from college to the pros.

As for being open for trading. Dan always is open for trading, for the right price. This is nothing new.

I never said to not draft an EDGE player, but we shouldn't pigeon-hole ourselves to that one position either just because we need one.  However, that's what we have done in round 1 since Hurney left and likely will do again.  BPA is a farce with this team--fugg'n lip service.

That's your opinion.

They are different types of safety apparently. Starks is more of a strong safety where Nick is a free safety according to DJ. I have not researched either to know enough either way.

The tape on Emanwori isn't so great, he just blew up the combine.  Starks has really good tape but underperformed a bit at the combine.
