John Fox is Denver's new head coach

What wins games in cold climates in December is running the ball plain and simple. The only team that seems to buck that trend is New England. And teams that stop the run are usually in the top half of the league.

Fox's problems here were mostly offensive not defensive and he should be fine with Orton and The Golden Calf of Bristol. Denver plays in an easier division and has a bunch of veterans which is exactly what Fox needs. I would expect they make it back to the playoffs before we do.

I am sure that Elway remembers how they won their 2 Superbowls and it was with defense and running the ball not throwing every down.

Big problem with Fox is that he ws predictable. He ran the same plays out of the same offensive sets. It was made publice several times by opposing players that they knew exactly what the Panthers were going to do just by how they lined up.

There is no creativity and agressiveness in a Fox led offense.

I think his biggest failure this season was refusing to change the passing game strategy to fit a rookie QB...much like the Rams did.

His philosphy is run, run, throw the ball 25 yards down the field. A rookie QB...with a struggling OL...does not bode well for pass plays that take 5-6 seconds to develop. He refused to alter our passing game to utilize the short and imtermediate routes....he refused to alter our passing game to feature the TE.

did you watch and go to the games? I don't think this is how the coaching staff adjusted for Clausen at all.

denver's a good fit for Fox.

out of all the landing spots left they have a potential franchise QB in The Golden Calf of Bristol that can make all the throws, and he'll make a commitment to stop the run and run the ball well there. I don't know how long it'll work, but they might have some early success with him.

You can win some games against opponents who are particularly vulnerable to running the ball and stopping the run like the Saints, but do you think you're going to beat a team like the Patriots with this approach?

Indy v Jets (Jets dominated the run game and Colts couldn't run)

KC v Balt (Everyone thought Cassell was some great QB because of the year he had but when you took away the run game he looked like ol Jimmy)

GB v PHI (GB finally found some balance and their defense shut down one of the most explosive offenses in football)

Steelers #2 seed because of their run game and #1 ranked defense. Falcons and Bears #1 and #2 because of their run game and defenses.

It's the same story every year. QB's get you points and press. Running the ball and Defense gets you championships (unless your the Pats).

Fox has an belief that his system will always work....regardless of the situation or the personnel. He ws too stubborn for his own good.

It also hurts when you require certain personnel for your system and the owner says "NO, make lemonade from apples."

The more I see Jerry Richardson and Mart Hurney in public and hear their "philosophies" the more I come to realize that Fox wasn't the problem at all.

Good luck Foxy, thanks for everything!

you mean when JR came out recently to say something similar to focus more on the offense and become more aggressive? sounds just like Fox..
