John Fox is Denver's new head coach

No, but you are willing to overlook the fact that he took a team to the Super Bowl two years removed from a 1-15 season. You also overlook the fact that he took a 2005 team to the NFC championship with only Steve Smith as the lone star player on the team and with Jake Delhomme as the QB, nevermind that we overachieved when beating the NYG in NY 20-0 in the playoffs, nevermind that we beat Chicago in Chicago after they had a bye in the playoffs. I guess you will also overlook the fact that Fox was right about playing Delhomme. I hated Delhomme, I still don't like him as a QB, but look how Moore and Clausen turned out.

Name a coach not named Belichick that would have done as well during the past 9 years with the exact same players. However you look at it, we overachieved. I'm glad Fox is gone, it was time, but to think he didn't do an outstanding job with what was given to him is flat out wrong.

We overachieved three seasons.....and had losing record the other six.

I consider a 33% success rate to be a failing grade.

Inconsistency and stuborness was Fox's downfall.

I am not a Fox hater. I have met him many times at corporate events and charitable functions. He is a VERY nice guy. He has a deep desire to win. However, he is way to set in his ways and is too stuborn.

He was not a terrible coach, but it was defintely the time for this organization to make a change.

Bottom line, I don't think you can win with his "run the ball, stop the run" philosophy anymore and I'm not sure what if any other tricks he has up his sleeve, but he's a good guy so I wish him well.

It's funny, that is exactly what wins in the playoffs. His mistake was focusing too much on that. You need a capable QB and decent receiving core but you win in the trenches.

It's funny how during the season all the analysts talk about QBs and this and that but when it comes playoff time, they all pick based on who can run and who can play defense. It's pretty simple.

The whole wild card weekend was based on that.

Don't be so sure. Just look at all the play off winners so far. They all ran the ball well. In fact, arguably the biggest play of the entire play off weekend, was the run by Lynch that sealed the deal for the Seahawks.

he peaked early and thought he had the recipe for success and never deviated from it, much to our demise. the fact that we never went after another QB is his fault. the roster that he had was his fault. he did an outstanding job the first few years he was here, then it all went down the crapper.

sorry, i'm not a fan and haven't been for years.

First let me start with I am not a Fox hater and can care less how he does somewhere else. That being said, alot of those making excuses for Clausen is because of the coaching staff, play calling etc... so you cant apply those to Fox. I know some excuses are due to the roster purge, etc but despite that Fox and Co did nothing to adjust for it. I do think a different coaching staff could have gotten more out of the team.

Maybe. He got the players to play hard and they all really enjoyed playing for him. I honestly think he got the most out of them this year considering injuries and everything. Other years not so much but this year especially.

i didn't make excuses for either and i don't care how he does away from here. i just think he's an overrated coach and the broncos are going to be regreting that hire...not to the extent that they regret hiring mckid, but still...i can see them sitting on the bottom for a few years. chargers will come back. the chiefs are heading in the right direction and if the raiders hire hue jackson they will be contenders next year.

That's fine. He might be overrated but he's not as terrible as everyone says.

People can have their opinions about him, but to wish him anything but the best is childish I think. I don't even like Fox that much but the bitterness is weird to me.

You can win some games against opponents who are particularly vulnerable to running the ball and stopping the run like the Saints, but do you think you're going to beat a team like the Patriots with this approach?

I agree not going after another QB was huge blunder on his and Marty's part. It's really why we're in the position we're in now.

I think his biggest failure this season was refusing to change the passing game strategy to fit a rookie QB...much like the Rams did.

His philosphy is run, run, throw the ball 25 yards down the field. A rookie QB...with a struggling OL...does not bode well for pass plays that take 5-6 seconds to develop. He refused to alter our passing game to utilize the short and imtermediate routes....he refused to alter our passing game to feature the TE.

Fox has an belief that his system will always work....regardless of the situation or the personnel. He ws too stubborn for his own good.

What wins games in cold climates in December is running the ball plain and simple. The only team that seems to buck that trend is New England. And teams that stop the run are usually in the top half of the league.

Fox's problems here were mostly offensive not defensive and he should be fine with Orton and The Golden Calf of Bristol. Denver plays in an easier division and has a bunch of veterans which is exactly what Fox needs. I would expect they make it back to the playoffs before we do.

I am sure that Elway remembers how they won their 2 Superbowls and it was with defense and running the ball not throwing every down.
