LOL, and even with that ESPN has mentioned the Panthers more times in the last 5 days then they have in the last 5 years.

Yeah, for some reason the Fox hiring will bigger news that the Rivera hiring. They didn't even mention it on ATH or PTI yesterday, but I bet Denver will get a mention...

Indy v Jets (Jets dominated the run game and Colts couldn't run)

KC v Balt (Everyone thought Cassell was some great QB because of the year he had but when you took away the run game he looked like ol Jimmy)

GB v PHI (GB finally found some balance and their defense shut down one of the most explosive offenses in football)

Steelers #2 seed because of their run game and #1 ranked defense. Falcons and Bears #1 and #2 because of their run game and defenses.

It's the same story every year. QB's get you points and press. Running the ball and Defense gets you championships (unless your the Pats).

It also hurts when you require certain personnel for your system and the owner says "NO, make lemonade from apples."

All that is fine and dandy, but in my opinion the Pats are clearly the best team in football right now and the road to the championship runs through them, so I want to see someone beat them with the "run the ball, stop the run" mentality.

Big problem with Fox is that he ws predictable. He ran the same plays out of the same offensive sets. It was made publice several times by opposing players that they knew exactly what the Panthers were going to do just by how they lined up.

There is no creativity and agressiveness in a Fox led offense.

I doubt he hires Davidson again so we will see whether it was Fox's offense or Davidson's. FWIW that offense was designed to use a few basic sets and run all kind of plays out of them. In fact it was supposed to use the same set as earlier in the game and when defenses figured they knew what was coming based on the alignment, the offense was designed to cross them up by throwing when they looked like they were running and vice versa.

That was the theory. The practice was they were totally predictable and very vanilla as you said. I will be interested to see who they get to coach the offense. Somehow I think Elway will have a big hand in that.

They were the best team in 2007 as well. But the Giants ran the ball and played tough defense and won the game. Wouldn't be surprised if that happened again this year along the way.

The Pats run the ball too. Have you seen Ed Woodhead lately? He might not be a big guy, but he gets it done between the tackles.

if it happens it will happen against another New York team, this weekend

the Jets are probably the only team that has top defense and a top running game
