I am pumped. I really like the hire

I'm so happy and I feel like this franchise is headed in the right direction...my only wish is that it could have happened a year earlier.

I'm sure we all wished that this was the beginning of the 2010 season instead....might just be a timing thing here. Maybe we always wanted Rivera, yet the timing was better for it to happen this year. I'm downright thrilled with this hire...

Not saying I disagree at all...I think this is a great hire and I caught a glimpse of the presser and he looks impressive and is saying the right things. Thumbs up here.

But.

I can't wait to hear the howls the first time someone picks up a blitz and throws a 60 yard TD on us. :)

He's knocking this press conference out of the park.

No wonder Chargers and Bears fans are bummed out, while NFC South foes are a little nervous...this guy seems like a natural. On top of it all the optimism in the air here is downright refreshing.

and every person howling should be spray painted bright orange so we expect who can have a knowledgeable conversation about football and who can't..

How can you not be impressed with what he said during the presser. He is very straight forward there is no guessing as to what he is saying. It is refreshing to hear a press conference of someone who is speaking with purpose and passion. I also liked when he said he wants coordinators/position coaches who are teachers. He also said he would look at the recently released coaching staff for postions within the coaching staff; that is possibly a chance to retain the RB and WR coach.

Guys this guy reminds me of a Tomlin but with a better background. This cat was under Mike Ditka and won a friggin superbowl. He has been lucky to be coached by some of the best and learn from some of the best. This Cat is for real and going to bring it!

I am thinking he is going to go Defense with the first pick. From the way he was talking we will bring in a Vet to compete with Clausen and I think he really wants to sit him for a year or so and let him develop and learn. As much as I am not a clausen fan I agree 100% throwing him in there like we did, with the players out that we had and the other youth that was playing, there is no way in hell we can get a fair assessment of him. I think we are going to sign or trade for a vet.

With his background and he is a proven guy with the Defenses he has put on the field, I am going to say this is the Cat that finally gets us where we want to go. Will it happen overnight? Nope, but hey I am more than willing to give this guy time to get this team where it needs to be. Damn I am excited to see the storm he brings on defense!

I'm happy - he didn't give any lame dead end answers. I'm excited and ready to get going.

I did not get any indication where he looks to use the #1 pick. Seems like he wants to be fair in his initial appraisal of the roster. I did notice he referenced some rules before he could begin interviewing coordinators and position coaches - sounds like some of the people he's interested in are on the current playoff teams.
