Rooney Rule: WTF?

I think the minority coaches in the NFL should be allowed to vote on it. I would wager that they would have it removed. It is not fair to minorities, it is easy to get around, and I seriously don't think we are in the kind of place where Rooney rules and affirmative action are necessary. Rules like this create racial divides. Some of these coaches are forced to turn down interviews because they know that they are not serious candidates. This hurts their chances in a few years when the job opens again.

The Rooney rule is not fair to minority coaches and needs to be removed. Furthermore, it is not necessary any longer (JR is a deep south country boy--his first two choices were minorities). Winning and losing are the only colors in the NFL--and green.

Minority coaches didn't cause the NFL to institute it. It was activists outside the league who threatened lawsuits because they felt that there weren't enough minority head coaches that prompted the league to take action. And those activists are still out there, hoping to cash in any way they can.

So the rule needs to stay.

Bingo......it's just so Jesse and Al can't get the easy payday, or another beer distributorship.

When those "activists" start to worry about why there isn't a single white starting DB in the league then I will consider them "activists". Until then, they are nothing more than a bunch of racists given cover by a complicit and gutless media and emboldened by the willingness of organizations like the NFL to cave into their ridiculous demands. It's pretty obvious to anyone with a brain they don't care about racial equity or they would be pizzed off about all the other racial inequities throughout professional sports.
