Mark Fields

Jake Delhome

Ken lucas

Most of the Oline from the superbowl season

Brentson Buckner

Al wallace

Chris Harris

Stephen Davis

Ricky Proehl

Jermaine Wiggins

Wesley Walls

Marlon McCree

Is some of the FA player that have worked out. If you looked down any teams FA signing history you will see some hit and misses.

Mark Fields- Was an Impact Player

Jake Delhomme- 03 only good year

Ken Lucas- overpaid and couldn't cover my grandma

Most of the O-line- Most were gone after 03

Brenston Buckner-A true leader on defense

Al Wallace-Maybe one good season, a better back-up to Pep.

Chris Harris-Hard-Hitter, hated to see him go

Stephen Davis- Loved him but 03 was it for him

Rickey Proehl-03 impact player then retired

Jermaine Wiggins-One good catch in 03

Wesley Walls-All the guys back then were FA's but he was the best ever.

Marlon McCree-He started how many times ?

IMO maybe 3 of the 12 examples were worth the money. Your not going to have consistant winning seasons with older players.

At the same time he is right. Almost all those guys were value picks not big time free agents. Delhomme turned big time for a while and ken lucas was paid pretty big bucks.

Don't expect too many game changing free agents signed by JR. Expect mid priced guys with potential that we can develop into superstars. Which is fine for a small/mid market team.

Thats revisionist history. JR has certainly been willing to spend big money on free agents in the past. And I think we will see some free agent signings once the contract talks are done. Might even see a free agent QB, or at least a trade.

I think he has learned his lesson. Smith an Kasay were the oldest players on the team last year. We need players through the draft who are going to be around for awhile. He got rid of all those vets to make sure younger players got to play. At least thats what he said in his press confrence.

Good football teams are built from the Middle out. You start/look at quarterback, offensive linemen, defensive linemen and so forth and so on.

Well, there's not a quarterback worth drafting with the 1st pick, move on. There isn't an offensive lineman worth drafting with the 1st pick, move on. That brings us the defensive line. Two men are in the hunt here, Bowers and Fairley. I think Fairley is the better player. He's bigger, stronger and mean as hell. Plus he's only a junior, he's still growing. Wait til he hits a NFL weight room program. He's only going to get bigger and stronger and just as mean and nasty.

Fairley is the guy

When? All Back in 03 during the Superbowl run. Then a losing season the next year. And I still disagree with Wiggins, He doesn't even rate to be in the same sentance with Wesley Walls. I'll bend on Jake a little but after tommy-john surgery he was never the same.

I think we have to go Fairley.....only because I think we have a better chance of scoring a good receiver in the later rounds.

Imagine

DE- Charles Johnson, Everette Brown (Have him switch side's because it would be a great change of pace. A big bull rush from Johnson, then a speed rush from Brown.)

DT- Nick Fairley, Ed Johnson, Corvey Irvin

DT- Derek Landri, Nick Hayden, Andre Neblett

DE- Tyler Brayton, Greg Hardy, Eric Norwood

Then in one of the later rounds we can select a big up and coming WR like Greg Little, Terrence Tolliver, or Austin Pettis.

Which goes back to what I said in the beginning, JR won't spend big money on FA's. I ain't saying they were all bad, but example ie: Lucas wasn't worth the money when JR did spend big. The Point I am trying to make is drafting players that your not going to spend big money on and develope them. Kind of like last year. JMO.
