Draft choices narrowed to 5?

I dont agree. Last night didnt help his case but it didnt hurt it ether. He is just as much a prospect as Fairley at this point. Still at this point trading down if possible and picking up Peterson may be the best choice. I just dont see anyone that is a 1st pick except A.J. Green and we dont need him.

First off, we will not trade the pick, no one will trade up, all teams know we have no clear cut top pick. as for not needing Green, i say they do. people are saying how great Gettis and LaFell are, but they both were inconsistant, they made some plays and then didnt make some plays, an AJ green could make them better than they are now. As for Peterson, like i said, i dont see us trading down and i cant see us getting Peterson for some reason.

Not really.

You've got one or two people vocally lobbying for him, but the overwhelming sentiment on here is that he's not worth the top pick.

The debate is pretty much over.

I dont see a player that really is worth our top pick. The only one that might be we dont need. If we are stuck at 1 we will be reaching no matter who we pick. While I will admit Newton has Flaws he as played just as well as every other QB declaring and he is a JR and also had to learn 3 systems.

reluctantly i agree.

I don't see a true first rounder at QB. They are all inflated. I would not be surprised to see no more than 2 picked, because teams are desperate. If it was based on skill set--conversion to the NFL and all positions were equal, we would be looking at every QB in the second round.

Im pretty sure at this point in the game, if we're already only looking at 4-5 guys and Cam Newton being one of them, it will be an Epic Fail. We better be watching/talking/reading/speaking about everyone worthy of a pick in the top 10, find which one is the best for us and go from there.

It isn't just Newton.

There's not a single QB in the pool worth taking with the #1 this year. Any QB that goes first overall needs to be a top flight, ready to start immediately, head and shoulders above the rest type player. The only guy that might have fit that description this year decided to stay in school.

My personal hope is that we trade down, but if we stay at #1, there's no quarterback that's worth it.

I guess the 2 people FOR Newton were just loud. I was surprised to read so much ProNewton sentiment. I happily scratch NEWTON from the discussion. I almost didn't include Bowers because not much is said about him. However, he is probably the closest thing in the draft to a true #1 pick. Besides, I am hoping someone like Tennessee or Cincinnati likes him enough to offer a deal to move up.

honestly, i see all 4 QBs picked in round one, now unless the panthers trade down (doubtful), they could be one of those teams, but the teams i see going QB are these teams. i see the 49ers getting Ryan Mallett, they will want a pro style offensive player who Harbaugh can work with and they could (later) use him to get Luck. the next team who gets a QB maybe the Titans, they would get Gabbert and have him as the future and they re-sign Collins to 2 years and let Gabbert learn from him. i then see Washington getting Jake Locker, Shanahan has wanted him for a year, then i see the Vikings getting Cam Newton.

I'd like to know how fast Green times out in the 40. I have not seen enough film on him to see if he can run away from people. I watched him in the bowl game, and looked a tad lanky to me. A Roy Williams from WA and Texas type body, not a Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald. IMHO. But again, have not seen enough tape on him to make that decision.

If we do draft him, I do not know how much better he makes us with the #1 overall pick. Given that Clausen is awful, I dont see him making an impact like the #1 overall should. Nobody is gonna buy tickets if we draft A.J Green. The more I think about it, the more I think it has to be Fairley or Peterson. The bottom line: Im not thrilled, nor will I be thrilled with any selection we make.
