"I wonder how he like's Carolina Blue" Fairley Thread

I fear he's more Glenn Dorsey than Gerald McCoy..

Me too, in the Oregon Auburn thread I was told to quit comparing the two. I was also told that Fairley is a lot bigger than Dorsey and has a bigger wingspan.

The only reason why I don't think he will be the next Dorsey is because Dorsey had a lot of injury problems before entering the NFL, Fairley is healthy and has not shown any health problems.

Blaine Gabbert isn't as good as people think he is. This weird hype train for him came out of left-field, and it should go back.

The guy is not NFL ready at all. He's never taken snaps from under center, he has always been in the spread offense, and his numbers aren't that great (16 TDs/9 INTs). Plus, look at Chase Daniels, he had huge numbers at Mizz.

I also don't think Mallett will be that good of an NFL QB. He already has been arrested for public drunkenness, and he's said to have serious "anger" issues. The comparisons to Ryan Leaf are becoming more and more apparent. Plus, I don't think the guy could move in the pocket at all.

Either of those guys would not be an upgrade over Jimmy, seeing as Jimmy has had at least one season in the NFL to get used to the speed, style, reads, etc.

It's much more about the tools Blaine Gabbert brings than the numbers he put up, and you're looking purely at TD/INT and nothing else. Chase Daniels is a poor comparison because he doesn't have the physical tools and mechanics that Gabbert had. You are right that he ran a spread and would have transition. However, Clausen just doesn't have very good tools at this level, as I think we've seen. Perhaps a good QB coach could help Clausen out in that respect but I don't know. Gabbert has the size, the arm strength, the smarts, the leadership capability, the work ethic, to make it big. That's no guarantee, and I doubt he goes #1, but he'll get a shot at some place.

Guys, regardless of how bad our offense was this season, Defensive Tackle is BY FAR, WITHOUT A DOUBT, UNQUESTIONABLY our biggest need on this team. It's not even close. Yes, we could get better at WR, but we drafted three of those last year. We don't need to pick one #1 overall. Gettis, Lafell and Smitty are fine. The biggest problems with our offense were 1. Offensive Coordinator and 2. Quarterback, not receiver. We're going to hire a new OC and without Luck in the draft we will not be taking a QB #1. I'm sure Green will do well in the NFL but it's just not a smart pick for us.

Bowers will be good as well, but Johnson/Hardy/Brayton/Brown is a strong DE group and we don't need another one. Yes, it would be nice to get another dominating DE but if Hardy is what we think he is it would be a wasted pick.

No, Fairley is not Suh. But he's one of the best talents in the draft, he's the best DT in the draft, and he's a dominating force on the field. He also addresses our biggest need. Is he dirty? Sure. But so is Steve Smith, so is Tyler Brayton. Dirty play on the field does not equate to being a bad character guy off the field. Picking Fairley #1 just absolutely makes sense.

My sentiments exactly! Wow! This is the first time I agreed with what you said on site. LOL

Yeah after tonight I say Fairley is a no-brainer.

1)You know Rivera would be drooling over this guy to get the defense started.

2)BPA that fills a huge need. Green is a beast too but we took 3 WRs last year.

Oh has anyone else thought about a possible 3-4 of Johnson/Fairley/Hardy and something like Anderson/Beason/Connor/Davis?

Idk who would be the hybrid type guy but I just thought it was an interesting idea?
