"I wonder how he like's Carolina Blue" Fairley Thread

Our defense really isn't as bad as the numbers say. We gave up so many yards and points because they were on the field so often. It's late, so I don't feel like backing this up with stats, but our offense had to be in the bottom five in regards to time of possession. We need to give Clausen or whoever will be starting next year weapons.

You dont need to back it up with stats. I watched the games. Never said defense was bad.

It's scary taking a receiver that high though, 2nd hardest position to translate from the NCAA to the NFL after QB. Yes Millen drafted Calvin Johnson, but he went through allot of busts to get there.

A guy like Fairley would be ready to contribute day 1, Green may take a while.

If we go offense, the pick needs to be Green.

If we go defense, the pick needs to be Fairley.

Fairly does not have a bad rep...he is just downright nasty on the field. He seems like the kind of defensive player that Rivera would like. He is disruptive in the backfield and would give the inside push that we need.

Anyone saying "it is only one gme", has not watched Auburn football this season. I have seen 7 of their games this season.....and Fairley was a beast in EVERY ONE of them.

considering most of the league is switching to a 3-4 i think fairley could slide down some organizations draft boards. We might be able to trade back up to get him unless some one try's something stupid like drafting him as a 3-4 end, how did that work out with Kentwan Balmer?

I believe the best thing for us is to take the safe bet and take the "big fast guy" of this draft in Daquan Bowers we can acquire an Under tackle later in the draft or threw free agency. I do however want to acquire fairley if at all possible.

Fairley projects well to a 5 tech too. He ain't sliding anywhere.

The game is won in the trenches. We have not had a dominant defense since Kris Jenkins. Think Jon Beason isn't drooling thinking about this guy taking up blockers?

and Nick Fairley is only a Junior, imagine another year of strength and conditioning.

I understand why everyone is all wanting AJ green, he is an exciting flashy guy, and we have needed someone beside smith for a long time.

But put it this way... Either way we are getting a heck of a player. I just believe Fairley is a guy that could give us one of the most important pieces of NFL defense, an interior rush.

Also, I don't get the whole "lazy" thing. Do you guys have any reports from Auburn, or their coaching staffs?

And yeah, Fairley did looked gassed the whole time. Probably because a team was running a no huddle spread offense on him, and every play he was trying to shove his way past a 350 lbs. lineman.

How about you try doing those things in pads, a helmet, and cleats while weighing 325+ lbs.?

Fairley outweighs every single player on Oregon's offensive line....
