Fanbase not excited by Rivera?

Mr. Scot

Strengths: Player's coach, led Bears and San Diego from a mediocre defense to top-ranked Defenses, San Diego's (a whale's vagina) defense was ranked number one this year

Weaknesses: lost to Panthers while with the Bears in the playoffs 29-21

Steve Smith was eating everyone in the bears secondary. Nothing they could do except leave everyone else uncovered and quadruple teamed Steve Smith that game.

well it's 6:20am eastern time and there are 500 people on the Huddle. i'd say that qualifies the place as the center of the movement. i doubt there are 500 people commenting on the Observer right now.

We are definitely the center of the Panther Fan universe.....God Help Us.

all I can say is that if he can get us the right staff and have a winning season back to back he will be better than fox don't get me wrong fox had his moments while here but could never have two winning season back to back all the champs that he got us will before ever thankful but no conistance in his game with all the talent he had he could never coach have a back to back winning season

I've seen that idea posted on three or four online news sites. Yet when I come here most everyone seems pretty happy with the idea.

Personally, I'm very happy with the hire.

Where is this notion coming from?

Ron Rivera was my choice and also the choice of most fans that i know personally.

It would be nice if someone started a poll on the Huddle letting fans vote their opinion.

My guess is most would vote they were in favor of Rivera being the Panthers new head coach.

It's crazy to hear people say they don't know enough about Rivera go get excited because what the hell did anyone know about harbaugh until this year. He had only been coaching Stanford for three years and yeah he turned them around but that's pretty easy to accomplish when you have the best QB in college football. No to mention that in that same time frame Rivera took the chargers from ranking in the 20's to number one overall without guys like cromartie and merriman.

So for people not to be excited bc they dont know enough about him simply watch more ESPN than actual football. Give me a break.

Rivera looks fine on paper although I really don't know much about his style which is as important as his defensive Xs and Os. Good resume but that doesn't get you dick in this league.

I would have liked to have comfort that Cowher, Gruden, Harbaugh and every type of assistant coach besides DC weren't off the table from the start.

Whatever. Win games and I'll be excited. You have 2 years

I'm very excited about the idea of getting Rivera.

If you look at like every other message board though, you'll see fans complaining because they wanted Cowher, or Harbaugh. Claiming Richardson is cheap. Or the same generic "WHY NOT AN OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR?" garbage.

Even though, it only seems to be a tiny sampling from our fan base, I can see the media loves to stir the pot. Even if the pot in question is only the size of a cap of a 2 liter bottle of pepsi filled with water.

Dude, Harbough turned around a miserable college football program in 3 years as a head coach. That is no small feat at all, I don't care who his QB was. In fact, how do you know Luck would have been as good on another team? His receivers are usually wide open so it's not really that hard to miss them.

Anyway, I never said I don't like Rivera, and I usually prefer a defensive coach anyway, so that's not a problem. My only point was that great coordinators don't automatically make great HC's, which seems to be the assumption around here. I hope that assumption is true in this case but we will see.
