Fanbase not excited by Rivera?

this is Rivera's first coaching job.. the 1st one in all the interviews he has ever done.. I have to imagine his desire to make the most of this is a big deal to him.. and I'm sure he'll be appreciative of the opportunity that was finally given to him..

Yup, all those passed over jobs could make a man want to prove they were wrong, which would/could be very good for us.

I think the fans would rather have an offensive minded coach or they would rather us get a big name guy who has already been a succesful coach. I like the pick but its the fact that he has never been a head coach before and we don't know how well of a head coach he can be.

i'm going to post a poll. i've never posted a poll.

Seriously, no one jumped all over this? Really, what has become of the Huddle?

I call b.s. Rodeo. I guarantee that you have been posted all over polls.

(As an aside, I respect you Rodeo and only mock you because I like you and think that you are actually a decent human being.)

For the record, our defense was pretty darn aggressive this year. The offense...not so much.

Anyway, I hope Rivera justifies everybody's faith. I just don't see how everybody can be so sure he will be a good HC when he's never done it before. I want to do cartwheels and all, but I have to see results first.

Happy and excited are two different things. Personally, relieved and satisfied would be how I describe my feelings.

Relieved that it isn't a guy with a lot of question marks, satisfied in that he seems an overall good package and a stand up coach who doesn't look like he will be pushed around easily, especially by players. But excited? Not really. Gruden, Harbaugh, Belichick....that would be EXCITING!

Guy I watch Panthers with...I texted him with the news, he said, 'great, another year of boring football', I then realized I needed to find new Panther friends. I was ecstatic about the hire.

Do you live near Travelers Rest, if so pm me.

2 years ago, everyone (including ESPN) would have been freaking out that we got "The Guy".

lol I have one panther friend that I could legitimately text any time of the year. The rest I have to wait around until we're good again and even then it's only passing comments.

Don't know much about the man or his whole body of work, but from what I have read I am very happy with the hire. I really think new blood in the coaching staff and acquiring a few key pieces via the draft and free agency will go a long way next season.

Would anyone mind listing what some call his "strengths" and his "weaknesses" while DC in San Diego?
