Fanbase not excited by Rivera?

I'm definitely happy with the hire. I did want Harbaugh first, but mostly just to ensure Luck comes out. Without Luck, I'd rather have Rivera.

San Diego had the #1 defense last year. Can anyone name a Charger defender? After Cromartie and Merriman left, I couldn't....other than Larry "Bust" English

looking at the comments on the observer article that Gantt posted regarding Rivera it seemed most of the fans didn't want him.

guarantee you 90% of the people that posted comments there have never even heard of Rivera and only heard he was a defensive coordinator, thus immediately dismissing any chance of him being a good coach.

for me personally, I wanted either Harbaugh or Rivera. I'm very excited we got Rivera.

Totally agree with your statement. Plus some people in Charlotte are always about how "we fit in" and we have to go with a "big name"....Charlotte has a huge chip on its shoulder according to some fair weather fans.

I'm semi excited. I think a lot of people are putting too much emphasis on how his defenses were ranked though. Lots of great coordinators have sucked at being HC's. That's not to say that I think he will suck, I'm just in a wait and see mode because I have no clue how he will lead an entire team or what kind of staff he will hire.

this is Rivera's first coaching job.. the 1st one in all the interviews he has ever done.. I have to imagine his desire to make the most of this is a big deal to him.. and I'm sure he'll be appreciative of the opportunity that was finally given to him..

I'm more concerned about keeping our defensive minded HC from controlling the offense. I hated how much control Foxy had over our O. I'm hoping Rivera has an OC in mind that he'll let do their job.

I think the front office plans on avoiding a situation like that.
