Official Auburn vs Oregon game thread

Not gonna say Oregon was necessarily over-matched, but let's look at the GAME. Scoreboard, yeah, it is all that matters, but sometimes it doesn't tell the whole story. Some people have mentioned the mental lapse on Auburn's last drive on the Dyre run...how about the screen the receiver used with the ref to keep Bynes (or it may have been Freeman, little hungover this morning) from making a play on Oregon's last scoring drive. Without that, Oregon might have never tied it up. So STFU. Oregon got by on big plays. The drives the scored any points on, Auburn gave up the big play. Even with that tempo, Oregon only had 1 legitimate drive. The other first half scoring drive for Oregon was after an 81 yard pass. Take away that pass, put in the TYPICAL play call for Oregon on first and second downs (which was a run, which only gained 2 or 3 yards majority of the time). Then you have to account for fake punts, fake extra-point play after their first TD, this game wasn't as close, to me, as the score would indicate.

All that being said, both teams left points on the field. Like it has been mentioned, a month-long lay-off is HARD to overcome. If this game would have been played, at most, 2 weeks after the last game of the season for both teams, it would have been a MUCH better game. Even with the sluggish, sloppy play, it was still a GOOD game. I enjoyed it greatly, and not just because I'm an Auburn fan. It was a hell of a football game. I couldn't sit still the whole game. I was pacing back and forth for 3 hours. lol

And 2 of Auburns TD's came on big plays that were coverage lapses or mismatches. You have no point.

Oregon's coach did everything he could to have the Ducks win that game, but they didn't have the personnel to pull it off.

Oregon has a top notch coaching staff for sure much better than Auburns.

actually, that was some of the worst play-calling i have ever seen. 4 straight shotgun draw plays near the goal line? ick. they ran up the middle all day when it clearly wasn't working. of course, give credit to auburn in the trenches, but that was really really bad playcalling. oregon had a lot of missed opportunities and could have easily won the game.

Cam = great college QB.

Cam = lots to learn to be a successful NFL QB

NFL does not run options and spread offenses where the QB runs 22 times per game = short QB career

NFL has bigger, stronger, faster LB's and DB's = when you get hit, it hurts (that DB that hit Newton early in the 4th was on the small side of a NFL DB).

Cam = great college QB but not overall #1 pick

I'd have liked to see the pocket moved some, and toss sweeps.
