Yasinskas: Possible OC - Marc Trestman

Currently in the CFL... Has had extensive career in the NFL before the CFL. Lives in Raleigh in the off-season... I also made a thread on here last year or so that he did an interview on local radio of how he had worked with The Golden Calf of Bristol in his pre-draft stuff to work on his mechanics... If I'm not mistaken the The Golden Calf of Bristol family sought him out among other to help Tim specifically.

Sounded great in that interview, but I have no idea about his background otherwise. He sounded really knowledgeable and detailed about the game though.

Actually, I was thinking it might be a good thing for Clausen... I'm not big on changing one's mechanics, but I've never really understood how people have bad throwing mechanics in football, it's weird because it seems so simple just to "throw it."

It's obvious Clausen's mechanics are flawed and Trestman seems to be an excellent coach at working on these kind of things and helping players keep what works and fix what doesn't from what I heard from him before.

I don't know if anyone can make Clausen an NFL QB but I figure someone like this could certainly help...

That us what I was going to point out. It seems that, "people" in the organization still believe in Clausen and Pike and it may be the same people that drafted them. I do not see the Panthers drafting another QB without giving Clausen a second look.

Come on number 1 pick 2012...!!!

That is why I think it just bizarre that people want to draft him #1

yeah same here, BUT people love his potential, i just think he has some question marks.

The Golden Calf of Bristol's CFL quarterback coach? Yeah, no thanks.

Who would you hire?? some coach who wouldnt try to fix Newton and let him try to run around??? and he's NOT The Golden Calf of Bristol's college coach, he's a CFL coach, Canadian football league, he MAY have worked with The Golden Calf of Bristol (the poster said) and if it's true, that would be a MAJOR help for Newton if drafted.

I wouldnt mind this either, BUT unless i hear differently, i think Clausen will be given up on and he will end up in Seattle and i think he will improve there, but if Trestman did help The Golden Calf of Bristol, he could help Clausen or Newton, but i feel that they will draft a QB, however, it could be Mallett or Gabbert, but i think Locker needs to be looked at too.

    • More TDs last year in less games (double the TDs) and more yards per game. Those are some tough stats to brush aside. Career stats are good but we are wanting the player for what they are currently. DK had some drop issues too.
    • I’m going with Nick Emmanwori as the pick right now. Charlie Campbell has him ranked 5th on his post combine big board and another safety is needed.
    • That is ridiculous on several levels. First of all you have to spend 90% of your cap space every year so the idea you can just not spend it every year is against the CBA. Secondly your job is to assemble the best team you can for the fans players and team. Not to save money for the owner.  Third many players who are considered great underperform while others like Luvu and Jackson have overperformed. What about a  great player like Derek Brown who was injured and missed all of last year. Was he a waste of money?? Sure pay DK a fools ransom and hope he stays healthy. He didn't even get 1000 yards last year which averages out to 60 yards a game or play all 16 games.  And lets be real, Jones and Watson aren't  great but they aren't being paid that much either. Real glad you aren't the GM.
