for one thing rivera wants to meet people face to face to see if they can work with him & fox & harbaugh are hiring guys they already know

Yep Fox is a established coach. Assistant will be willing to take a risk with him then a unproven coach.

Think it was Frank Garcia I heard talking about it being a good idea to get established assistants when your head coach is essentially a rookie.

(kind of like a bottom-up mentoring thing, I guess)

Given Rivera's experience, that may not be as necessary as it would with say, a Mike Tomlin or a Josh McDaniels, but it's probably still a good idea.

I could be wrong but I thought Rivera or Hurney (or someone in the organization) said that they would not be annoucing any assistants being hired until the entire coaching staff is assembled. So for all we know a lot of guys are already hired and they are waiting for guys like Tabor to interview once their teams are out of the playoffs. If they stick to their guns and make no announcements until the entire staff is in place it could be a while before the official word comes out.

OL: Mike Munchak (If not allowed to talk, then Jerry Fontenot)

DL: Mike Waufle

LB: Bob Babich

DB: Chuck Cecil (If not allowed to talk, then Lionel Washington)

ST: Dave Toub (Or Chris Tabor is fine if Rivera wants him)

You'd have a better chance at McGinnis as DC than LB coach, but if Chuck Ceceil gets canned McGinnis might replace him.

South Florida paper reporting that Chudzinski is the favorite for the Dolphins OC (quoted in the Red Zone).

Gantt confirms interview with the Panthers yesterday but no further info.
