Assistant Coach Options

why have we not made a single coaching hire yet? that is really frustrating.

We made the most important one. On the other spots, we're doing interviews.

And don't judge Rivera by Fox. Fox is an established coach who had a prior staff to call upon. Rivera is a new head coach and he's working together with the front office.

Won't surprise me if he have a full staff by the end of next week.

Yep Fox is a established coach. Assistant will be willing to take a risk with him then a unproven coach.

Think it was Frank Garcia I heard talking about it being a good idea to get established assistants when your head coach is essentially a rookie.

(kind of like a bottom-up mentoring thing, I guess)

Given Rivera's experience, that may not be as necessary as it would with say, a Mike Tomlin or a Josh McDaniels, but it's probably still a good idea.

I could be wrong but I thought Rivera or Hurney (or someone in the organization) said that they would not be annoucing any assistants being hired until the entire coaching staff is assembled. So for all we know a lot of guys are already hired and they are waiting for guys like Tabor to interview once their teams are out of the playoffs. If they stick to their guns and make no announcements until the entire staff is in place it could be a while before the official word comes out.

Here's my choices then:

OC: Tom Clements

QB: Ray Sherman

RB: Tim Spencer

WR: Al Saunders

TE: Rob Boras

OL: Mike Munchak (If not allowed to talk, then Jerry Fontenot)

DC: Sean McDermott

DL: Mike Waufle

LB: Bob Babich

DB: Chuck Cecil (If not allowed to talk, then Lionel Washington)

ST: Dave Toub (Or Chris Tabor is fine if Rivera wants him)
