the worst offense in the league cannot afford to lose playmakers, and smitty is our best playmaker, period.

AJ Green is a player the team has to heavily consider, aside from if Smitty is here next year or not. This draft is about five years from now as much as next.

We're basically the same team either way. He might have rallied his teammates on the sidelines, given a motivational speech, turned his emotions into a vision and leadership like Ray Lewis. Instead, teammates/coaches just seem content not to draw criticism (or a sucker punch) from him.

Personally, If I had a game ball to give a rookie this year, I would give it to David Gettis. He is the future of our receiving corps. Mike Goodson would get an honorable mention for sure. And if I could give a game ball to the best playmaker on our team, I'd give it to John Beason. He stuck it out and played out of position so that a weaker player could take over middle linebacker, and when he returned to middle linebacker we looked like a playoff caliber defense again, IN SPITE OF our injuries. Hopefully, if there is something learned from this season it is that someone else should play out of position before we move Jon Beason away from MLB.

At the beginning of the season, our TEs were our only veteran receivers. They should have been productive and instead our rookie receivers had to be the first to step up. Therefor, I give our TEs bad grades this year.

People are just slobbering over Green because the dont like any QBs or Defensive players where we pick. The Green pick would be useless to us and more of a wast then Edwards was last year.

Exactly. Lafell and Smith will do for now. We need our O-line and QB situation figured out. I doubt if Hurney is even interested in drafting a WR.

Orton addresses the QB, he's been more than solid..

Green addresses a receiver you have to double.. With Gettis, Smitty, and LaFell all benefit in a huge way...

you want to help the offense, get those 2 players..

These threads just keep reappearing under different titles and different originators, but they all go back to the same thing.

The Panthers drafted 3 WRs last year, 2 of them very early in the draft. Now there are some wanting to draft yet another WR, this time with the #1 over all. I don't get the logic, rationale or anything about this pick.

You could line up Ryan Kalil at center and put 9 WRs out there and Clausen will not be able to get any of them the ball. Why would you keep hoping another WR will make Clausen any better?

It's simple- Clausen cannot make the throws required to be an effective NFL QB, plain and simple.

But there are those of you who think they can repair a blown head gasket by putting new tires on the car.

you're making a huge assumption that Clausen is the QB.. pick up Orton and problem solved.. You need a guy who demands double teams.. The biggest thing you can do is pick up Green to help Gettis and LaFell get open and Smitty stays in the slot..

Nothing will help our run game more than a big time WR threat.. Orton is more than accomplished and has proven to be a solid QB.. he will be fine for hte next couple years while we figure out the QB situation..

like it or not, the QB situation is a crap shoot and you can say pick up a QB in the draft #1 overall and find out next year, 2 years, or 3 years from now that it was a wasted pick..

so you are pointing out a crap shoot while I'm pointing out the best option overall..

IMO if we draft Green we basically say goodbye to Edwards or Smith. Nether of which is going to happen.
