Alright Mr Richardson time to spend some money/ Nnamdi Asomugha

If anyone in the league is deserving of the highest defensive contract, it IS this guy. To the post who said he sucked in Oakland... no, get out. This guy is a beast. You're telling me this guy isn't worth the money when he literally shuts down the opposing team's #1 WR? Seriously? Remember when we played them when Smitty was tearing it up and did NOTHING at all in that game? Yeah, that's this guy.

He's worth way, way, way more than Peppers ever was. To say he's done cause he's approaching 30 is also, stupid. He's not a running back and we were prepared to pay Peppers close to this age one year. He probably has way less contact too, cause people just won't throw his way, at all. He's mainly just running. It's a different position than the other "done at 30 positions". In my opinion, it's worth paying a shut down corner, the only position that's worth paying more to me is an elite QB. Guys like him and Revis, Champ at his best, change the game, completely.

Did you see my stat where Oak was 2nd vs the pass but 28th in tds ALLOWED. Isn't the goal of the D to NOT allow a td? So other teams go sure Aso, we won't throw your way and we will go elsewhere and still burn you guys.

So that stat doesn't justify the money. It's the reason he won't be resigned with the Raiders.

Carolina's D had 56 more pass attempts against them and gave up 366 yds more than Oak. 6.5 yds per pass. Carolina had 15 less sacks so in essence the chances of an effective pass were higher vs the Panthers along with MORE attempts and yet Carolina gave us FEWER td's.

Isn't that what it's all about? td's?

It means he had ZERO impact and was making gobs of money. Not worth the money is NOT the same as not being any good which is what I'm NOT arguing.

So he supposedly is a "shutdown" corner and takes a way a part of the field. Let's say that's true. If that is true it means the offense the Raiders play against have LESS field and a window to use to score in the passing game and YET they are near the bottom in giving up THROWING TD's.

This is not rocket science.

to further illuminate my point. would you rather have two awesome, expensive Pierreli tires on your car OR 4 solid tires?

OR...you can have the latest, state of the art, all the techy security system that money can buy but it's only good for the front of the house?

this is what I'm getting at.

First best being??

PLEASE tell me you dont mean Revis!

I was completely unimpressed with Revis this year for reasons that go deeper than just talent, ability and potential. The guy held out for ridiculous money, showed up out of shape for an "elite" player, almost immediately developed hamstring issues because of being behind in conditioning and they are still talking about his hamstring issues in the playoffs.

He's still a top notch CB even with the hammy issue, I just thought it was slack for him to hold-out when he was already under contract only to show up with conditioning issues. He still has no less than three high pressure games left to preform in if the Jets go all the way. For the money the Jets caved in for, he's got to be there 100% when it counts.
