No one can sign FAs until the CBA is done.

Schefter says:

"Until there is a new collective bargaining agreement -- which almost no one is expecting for months -- there will be no free agency. Teams will not be allowed to shop for new players, players will not be allowed to sign with new teams and any player movement will be shut down."

thats what I thought.

basically the current agreement expires in March, and that is also when players become FAs I think.

thank god for that.

Sucks players will be team less for so long. This lockout is just one big bitch to sit through. I wish JR was the more compromising type, and I at least hope there is someone on the CBA side who isn't some blind old man stuck in the times, unwilling to budge or change.

So until the new CBA is done, we don't have to worry about anyone nagging good free agents before us.

So here's my dream scenario of the starting defense for next season. I think with this defense, we won't be in position to draft Luck next year.

DE Greg Hardy

DT Brandon Mebane

DT Haloti Ngata

DE Charles Johnson

OLB James Anderson

MLB John Beason

OLB Thomas Davis

CB Patrick Peterson

FS Sherrod Martin

SS Charles Godfrey

CB Chris Gamble

Nnamdi Asomugha is going to be a free agent. Show the fans you are serious.

So why play in Carolina and not have a shot at a Super Bowl

When you have played in Oakland without a shot at a Super Bowl ?

Nnamdi Asomugha will sign the biggest contract he can with a legit playoff contender

He's not getting any younger

I'm thinking the same thing about Ngata and all the other top free agents. Plenty of teams will be offering them huge contracts. Even if what we offer is slightly higher they'd probably still rather go to a contender.

i hate to be the data bringer of bad news and it's Sunday and I want to chill and watch football and not think but I guess I have to be the one to debunk the legend of Nnamdi.

The obvious observer will say hey man, look at how many times the ball is thrown his way. Alot like people will say Tombstone is the greatest Western of all time(and it is really really freaking good) but due to recency bias and TNT reruns their sampling of Western's is reduced thus driving an incorrect objective view. But again, I don't want to think too much on a day like today.

Thought #1- Raiders run defense=29th and giving up a staggering 133 yds per game. So why throw when you can get 4.5 yds a carry and chew up clock?

#2- Raiders are 2nd vs the pass, HOWEVER, they are near the bottom in td passes ALLOWED. So you got this so called stud DB and yet you give up only two less td passes than the dreaded Texans secondary? And you paid how much again for that?

3- Shall I continue?

didn't say he was bad. but for the money, i would want LESS td's. He is NOT worth the money. Being a good cb and being worth the money is two dif things.

the value that he brings vs what is delievered doesn't add up. thats all im saying

If anyone in the league is deserving of the highest defensive contract, it IS this guy. To the post who said he sucked in Oakland... no, get out. This guy is a beast. You're telling me this guy isn't worth the money when he literally shuts down the opposing team's #1 WR? Seriously? Remember when we played them when Smitty was tearing it up and did NOTHING at all in that game? Yeah, that's this guy.

He's worth way, way, way more than Peppers ever was. To say he's done cause he's approaching 30 is also, stupid. He's not a running back and we were prepared to pay Peppers close to this age one year. He probably has way less contact too, cause people just won't throw his way, at all. He's mainly just running. It's a different position than the other "done at 30 positions". In my opinion, it's worth paying a shut down corner, the only position that's worth paying more to me is an elite QB. Guys like him and Revis, Champ at his best, change the game, completely.

He's one of the best in the game. (2nd best, actually..)

The only knock on him is that he's 29.

But a duo of Asomugha, Gamble..and knowing we've got loads of money.

You've gotta consider paying the man.

The only stats to his name from last season are 19 tackles too..and although that's because teams refuse to go to his side of the field, it could still drive the price down..maybe?

First best being??

PLEASE tell me you dont mean Revis!
