Why not Jake Locker?

Again disagree. Ricky Stanzi doesnt wow me and i wouldnt take him until the 5th round and i wouldnt start him. As for the taking QB's who won in college, yeah, really working for Matt Leinart. I agree that taking losers usually fails, BUT Stanzi isnt that good and i think (if coached right) Locker can be better than people think

There is a big difference though. We can get Stanzi with our 3rd round pick, we won't be able to get Locker. Plus Stanzi is more accurate than any other QB left in the draft, and I consider that to be the most important tool for a QB in today's NFL. He can throw under pressure, he has a strong arm and he is pretty smart with the ball. He can even take snaps under center. Next to accuracy, the most important trait you can have as a QB is the ability to put the game on your shoulders and will a win, and he's had tons of great 4th quarter finishes.

Leinart's problem is that he isn't as committed to the game as he should be, not something to worry about from Stanzi.

I think Locker will b a fine QB. He would be an upgrade over Clausen. If you like winners you have to look at Dalton (TCU.) Definitely no where near the 1st round though. I think this class has pretty good QB's. Maybe no hall of famers but decent talent.

or Greg McElroy (if he declares for the draft).

out of who are you referring?

I really like Stanzi too. This year especially he came on very strong. I watched a number of his games and I think he would be a good high-reward pick in the 3rd. The major concern I have with him is that he was characterized as having a slow release last year and I don't know how that has improved this year.

Not a huge fan of Clausen after the past season, but I think he deserves one more chance. We need to pu a veteran qb to mentor him or start if Jimmy can't beat him out in pre-season. Lets not waste any picks on qb's this draft and see how 2011 season turns out. Lets focus on building a strong defense to go with the leadership of somebody like Rivera. Remember the division we play in, and since it is unlikely that we can offensively match N.O., Tampa or Atlanta lets contain them as much as possible. Next year draft Luck or another QB if we have a horrible season. My preference would be Peterson or Green, because I believe he is a can't miss and an absolute freak athletically. Aside from Green, I wouldn't want any other offensive players early in the draft, and I don't want any qb's drafted period this year. Just my 2 cents. By the way. I enjoy the board, ben lurking for a long time :)

    • I find it more like now that I have been forced to watch Young so much it isn’t as much of a shock to my senses.   Desensitized they call it.   For real, it just looks normal almost now. Where the first game of 2023 I wasn’t sure what I was looking at it was so out of bounds for NFL type play. I literally couldn’t make sense of what I had seen vs Atlanta that first week.
    • Lynch in SF. Great is subjective but he has done pretty well there.
    • Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.    the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.
