Why not Jake Locker?

Jake Locker is not any good he is not playing well and does not show the arm talent that a first round QB should show, plus he plays in the Pac10 where the defenses aren't that great and he still looks average.

HAVE to disagree with some of the people here. Jake Locker DOES have the arm, his arm strength is among the best in this draft and (like Newton) he can run and i think his running will be as good as Rodgers' is, the issues are winning and decision making. he's a more athletic Jay Cutler.

he is now behind cam and mallett now on espn.

on my board he's ahead of Cam, i think Locker has issues, but i like the fact that he played in a pro style offense and i like how his arm is, i like Newton's potential, but you dont just draft on potential, you take the Best player on the board and none of these passers are, but if they take a passer just to take a passer they likely get Newton even though he's not the best player in the draft.

I'd rather take Ricky Stanzi than Jake Locker. He is talented physically but mentally he's just not all there and he doesn't have "it". There's a lot to be said for taking QB's who won in college, never take losers (Clausen).

Again disagree. Ricky Stanzi doesnt wow me and i wouldnt take him until the 5th round and i wouldnt start him. As for the taking QB's who won in college, yeah, really working for Matt Leinart. I agree that taking losers usually fails, BUT Stanzi isnt that good and i think (if coached right) Locker can be better than people think

    • I find it more like now that I have been forced to watch Young so much it isn’t as much of a shock to my senses.   Desensitized they call it.   For real, it just looks normal almost now. Where the first game of 2023 I wasn’t sure what I was looking at it was so out of bounds for NFL type play. I literally couldn’t make sense of what I had seen vs Atlanta that first week.
    • Lynch in SF. Great is subjective but he has done pretty well there.
    • Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.    the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.
