Trade bait

I would love to trade Smith. Sure I would like to see him retire as a Panther because he has had some great years for us but he isn't the player he once was and seems to be a cancer to Jimmy Clausen. Smith is always in Jimmy's face but Smith has dropped many passes that he should of caught this year and his speed isn't there like it once was. I don't know what we can get for him because he has had some issues on the field most recently punching Lucas so we might not be able to get a 4th or at best 3rd round for him, considering teams only gave up a 3rd for Moss who has had had more success than Smith has in the last few seasons.

I don't understand the Smith is bad for Clausen argument. Yes Smith is not above the team but Clausen is not above Smith. I see the same people arguing this say Clausen sucks ass and we should trade him for whatever we can get in other threads.

You either consider Clausen the franchise player or you don't. Having said that no one knows what the FO feels.

But moss has been known to take plays off, his character is questionable and he's slightly below T.O. in being a cancer in the locker room. Moss is a my way type of guy, if he can't beat the coverage or just not being passed to he whines about it, and pretty much say f@#k it I ain't helping you if you don't get me the ball. Yes smitty does not have the character to be a good teamate but no one can ever question his drive/passion to be the best he can every Sunday...he's not the best of leaders; hell he refuses to mentor the rook WR's if they dnt bend over to wash his feet...but his heart for the game and passion to win would make some teams be willing to offer more for him, I honestly think the pats would give up a 3rd for him, simply bc belicheat will keep him in line and he won't be so PO'd all the time bc Brady will get him the ball. With welker, hernandez, grankowski (sp) and smith opposing defenses wouldn't know what to do. Moss had that impact in '07, you just couldn't stop that offense, it was unreal (every game that season was a highlight reel of how the pats O will rape your D). As much as I hate the pats I feel that would be the best place for smitty to land.

For the record, seeing smitty in another uniform is just absurd to me, I know not all players spend their whole careers with one team, but of all the players that have been panthers I honestly thought steve would be a panther til he retired. Our franchise at tis point isn't built or ran well enough to give smitty what he wants and that's a ring. As long as he isn't traded to a division rival I could be ok with him being shipped away, but like I said in a prior post smitty is worth more to this franchise than any draft pick, he is the face of the franchise (guess beason is gonna take that role)

If we're speculating going after a QB in a trade:

I figure once the Eagles resign Vick, Kolb could be on the trade block...and Denver is planning on having Orton there as well.

The Eagles could definitely use a fresher LB besides Bradley (Who in my opinion is their only good one)

Denver's defense is pretty damn bad so we could make something happen with them also

So I dunno at this point, but those are some things to consider

Denver has talent on their defense unfortunately that talent has been utilized similar to our offensive talent, their secondary is mediocre champ and dawkins were elite, but like smitty they lost a step. I'm sure dawkins is gonna retire soon, perrish cox his an average cb that could be a good nickel corner in the right D scheme, I think denvers defense relies too much on dumerville and dj williams and their dline is questionable at best, now champ is most likely gone they are gonna have major holes to fill. Our defense needs a quality player here and there and we can be top 8 imo. Now that marshall is headed out the only player I feel worth taking in FA is champ but he's probably not even an option because of his age and our youth movement. The potential that our young players have is great and we are not in a win now mode (everyone knows that), but I think in 2-3 yrs our team will gel with the right acquisitions (sp) to fill some of the gaping holes, we will be a strong competitor in years to come. That's if we sign our core players and they actually stay healthy for once. Basically I would hate to feel like a lions, raiders, 49ers etc. fan for the next few years, but I can honestly say I'm one who could never give up this franchise no matter who comes and goes, its a buisness.

trade stewart, he has lost his field vision.

Meh I wouldn't say stewart lost his field vision, yea he and deangelo were under performing at the beginning of the year, but that's because they were gettin hit as soon as they got the ball in the backfield, every year our run game starts off slow, then. Boom one of our RBs has a huge game and the others follow, consistensy at the start of. The season is just the problem. The lack of a passing attack affects them more than anything, if anything the RB we should keep most is jstew, bc since the NFL is now a passing lg defenses are gonna get smaller and faster to keep up with coverages, and the power stew has is gonna gash more defenses then trying to bounce around to the outside and be elusive. Jstew has a bright future with the franchise he's still young with many years ahead of him. I believe within the next 3 years him s. Jackson p. Hillis (maybe) are gonna be the top RBs in the lg. Granted s. Jackson already is top 3, I'm just saying its gonna take a lot to stop them and smaller faster lbs just isn't gonna do it. As long as our oline stays healthy and if we can resign dwill, like usual our ground game is gonna be elite. We just need competent qb play and we will be back in contention before we know it. Let's just hope Hurney finds a competent HC and OC and actually allow the OC to perform his duties and call the plays this time around.

trade stewart, he has lost his field vision.

I disagree..

The first half of the season, he had TOO MUCH field vision.

He was trying to dance and elude people..Once the man just decided to just run..he turned back to old Stewy..

The man is a beast when he's just running over people and eating their lunch..
