Trade bait

Connor himself can easily get us a high-mid 3rd, iirc we drafted him in the 3rd and idt it would be worth giving up a talent like connor for an unproven likely bust rookie 3rd rounder, if we were to trade him; package a deal with him/godfrey to get an above average player in return. Godfrey has potential and honestly I think he's not suited well for the SS spot he's at. He has the speed to move back to FS but imo he doesn't have the coverage ability or play recognition to play that spot either, maybe its just me but I think he was given a chance to soon to start, he was learning well under Harris hell the entire defense gelled better with harris back there bc of the leadership he brought. Connor to me is the prototypical 4-3 MLB, his play recognition and pursuit is unreal and he'd bulk up any teams LB corp if they needed a legit MLB, Stewart Bradley isn't quite cutting it for the eagles (not saying he sux, just doesn't seem like an ideal starter) on that note connor isn't really fast enough to rush the passer on a consistant basis in which the Eagles would be utilizing his talent in a negative way, Ray Lewis isn't getting younger, I think if we trade connor anywhere it should be to the ravens, he could learn a lot from Ray and I'm sure he has learned a lot from beason. Mcclain looks to be an up and coming LB for the ravens but like I said Ray isn't getting younger and within a season or 2 the ravens are gonna have to find a replacement after Ray retires, Connor could be that a big run stopping MLB (and yes I know the ravens run a 3-4 scheme and I said connor is a prototypical 4-3 MLB)

Furthermore I'm just rambling on cuz I'm on adderall lol to me it seems like valid points tho

Keep in mind any draft day trades won't happen if there is a lockout during the draft.

Also, Smith may be worth a 4th, but I'm not so sure anymore. D-Will isn't going to get you a high pick and I can't imagine anyone trading a 2nd for him, maybe a 3rd though I'm not even sure.

Does anyone see any other Panthers with value who could be traded?

Well, I wouldn't call it trading, but maybe we could give Jimmy Clausen away to someone for a pack of bubblegum for Fox to chew in his next job.

Other than that... I don't see anyone the team would dare let go.

I agree to an extent, our team has a ton of talent that just wasn't utilized properly, we don't have much depth at a lot of positions, but if we can package 2-3 above average player for a good player that has unlimited potential to fill a major need on the team I.e. DT (which I don't really see many DT with an unlimited amount of pot or isn't a prima donna who wants the coaches to cater to their every needs I.e. Haynesworth) then I'm all for it, Idt id trade any player on the team for just draft picks; like I said before if we have a proven guy why ship him for a pick to draft an unproven/pot bust rookie. Smitty might be losing a step but he's worth a lot to this franchise fvck trading him for a low pick in the draft were your lucky to find a diamond in those rounds. (Gettis and Hardy have been a major surprise to just about anyone who's a fan of this fran.) Norwood also has the potential to be a good/great pass rusher. Let's be honest we got lucky that our scouts actually found talent late in this past draft. None of the moves in this past draft (AE) can classify this past draft as horrible. Only fans of other teams think our team is poo and can't compete with the best regardless of coaching and playcalling. I'm not very ecstatic about clausen most likely being our starter next year, and I could care less if a lot of you hope clausen sucks balls next year as he did this year just for the oppurtunity to get luck, honestly ima support whoever our QB is no matter how poorly they play, yea ill scream at the tv call pickles an ass clown, but he really didn't have much of a chance this year. Fox threw him to the hounds and corrupted his entire mentality/confidence. Granted moore was injured most of the year and played slightly better than clausen (in moving the ball downfield), but moore already had the game time experience and he didn't have to deal with the poo hole that clausen did. Iight ima quit rambling on now, I'm kinda annoying myself lol.

Sticking my neck way out here because I think I know the answer, I just don't want to accept it yet:

With a QB coach and an OC who is not a former lineman, with a head coach who is not a lame duck, with a different offensive system, with a healthy and upgraded Oline, with time to develop behind a veteran, and with a year of experience, Clausen has to get better.

The question is this: Do you think Clausen can be saved?

He will improve no doubt..

The question, is how much.

In the end its up to him, his dedication/preparation/willingness to excell and be better, he's probly at the lowest he's ever been in his life as a QB, everyones against him at this point. And a lot of people blame him for why we sucked this year, but there is no I in team (and dnt give me, but there is a me excuse). The truth is JR dropped a lot of the leadership we had on this team which is what is suppose to comfort a rookie after their confidence has hit rock bottom. Smitty didn't help him get his chin back up and he couldn't trust the oline to save his life. The kid never had a chance, I think if we just kept Moose one more year he could've groomed our rook WR's and help them progress faster than they did (look what he did for smitty). The fact is though our FO/lack of FA moves/lame duck coach and lack of veteran leadership fvcked him over more than any other player on the roster. He obviously wasn't ready and we all saw that after his first game, so why leave him in there to be torn apart by defenses all year and kill whatever confidence he had. I can't fault him for how the season turned out no one can, but he's the scapegoat of the season...seriously I wated to point the finger at someone just like everyone else, but you can't blame 1 person in a team sport u just can't. Like I said in another thread ima support whoever is behind center for this team through the good and bad times, I'm just grateful we have a franchise in the Carolinas.
