What are his character issues?
he bought a cheap laptop when he was 18 that turned out to be stolen. got scared when he heard that cops were investigating and threw the computer out the window. that clearly puts him on america's 10 most wnated list.

as if that wasn't enough he got caught cheating on a test. teh horror.

and THEN his dad allegedly asked some school to give him money to play football...of course nothing ever came from the charges and the NCAA could find nothing wrong and he won the heisman, but still...it all smells thug or something.

And I agree with him. Newton is a thug that has had repeated issues. he is a friggin one hit wonder in college and someone is going to pay dearly for drafting him high.

I just hope someone is dumb enough to offer us a Hershel Walker type trade for the first overall pick.

Lol a thug really? Because cheating on a test is as bad as it gets. Lets look up the definition of thug.

Thug, a common criminal, who treats others violently and roughly, often for hire. Often a member of a gang, as an enforcer in organized crime, and misdemeanor.

What has Cam Newton done to come across as a gang banger or hurt others? It seems to me either a) your blinded by the color of his skin or b)you are ignorant and don't know what you are saying.

If we want to debate whether or not he has character issues, there are two other topics in the huddle right now where there are 30 pages of comments. Not wanting to go there but we can. Let's all try and agree on one thing - clearly whoever drafts Newton will think long and hard about his past. If you disagree with that statement you are living in fantasy land. Clearly when Peyton Manning or Sam Bradford were drafted those discussions were not necessary. As such, I can guarantee you that Newton will not EVER be a Carolina Panther. If you think otherwise, you don't know much about JR.

When he tears Oregon's D to shreds on Monday JR will take note. Believe it. That said, if we don't get him it won't be as big a deal to me but I would rather take the risk, then find out he's Hyper-Rothelisberger Championship Edition.

I disagree. With the #1 pick overall you take no risks other than the fact that you never really know if a player will pan out in the NFL. If you have any doubt whether or not they will, you trade down and let another sucker team pay the big bucks for a risk. People are getting too emotional about this pick. We are not in a do or die situation. I honestly think if we get a stud DT in the draft or free agency, we will be 500 next year. Our run game is a different story with Otah back (assuming he can stay healthy).

I feel that if Richardson really IS a man of character like the image he wants to present, he would realize that people make mistakes in college and as young adults, and that a 20 year old doing something dumb in college is waaaayyyy different than a NFL vet getting a DUI, or gun charges, or sexing up a girl in a bathroom stall in Georgia.

Newton is a winner, he's won everywhere he's been. He won a Junior College National Championship(Steve Smith got his start in Junior College) and now he's undefeated as a starter at Auburn and could win a National Championship there too. Winning is contagious, when you start winning you'll work harder to stay a winner. First thing that happened with Jimmy when he started this season bad was to say "well you know I started bad too at Notre Dame..."

I can't believe you just said he was a "thug" you act as if he murdered someone. Human ignorance never ceases to amaze me. :eek:
